It's a nice tea house to visit during the weekend afternoon. They have a nice selection of teas to try with desserts.

our waitress had such good recommendations. Moonlight and Fried Garlic Ribs were great! I personally liked the Snowy River cause the of the hazelnut flavor 🥰 Great service and great appetizers! We went when they opened around 3 so there was no other customer. An unlucky day where our waitress was the only one working so I feel bad but she did an amazing job. We were pleased. Restroom was a mess probably from the night before. They had chair seating in the glass room and floor seating in the back. Both are good options

Stumbled upon this hidden gem—「Shan Hai」speakeasy—and had a perfect experience from start to finish! The staff were not only warm and attentive but also took the initiative to recommend dishes and drinks that suited our preferences. They patiently explained the features of each dish, making us feel like we were being warmly hosted by close friends.
The ambiance was relaxed yet stylish, perfect for catching up with friends or a date night. I’ve already recommended it to everyone I know—it’s a rare find in New York where both service and food are truly outstanding. Can’t wait to go back!

I went there and was told they were not accepting customers anymore, which seemed like discrimination against customers.

Made reservations for 2 o’clock and the doors were closed. Very unprofessional.
The owner is incredibly friendly and inventive. He shared a few drinks he came up with with my friends and I free of charge and allowed us to sit and chat for a long time.

I absolutely love this place. It's peaceful and beautifully adorned with traditional Chinese décor, offering views of a charming courtyard and a cozy sunroom. A discreet service button at the table means you're never interrupted. Every dish we ordered was thoughtfully prepared: the fried tofu was perfectly crispy on the outside while keeping a delicate interior; the taro cake was both delicious and beautifully presented; and the jasmine tea jelly had a lovely floral aroma with a subtle tea flavor. The peach oolong tea was fresh and perfectly balanced. The serene environment makes it easy to relax and enjoy meaningful conversations.

I randomly stopped in while I was in the area for work, and I’m so glad I did. This place has such a cool vibe, and the coffee was absolutely delicious! It’s a perfect spot for a date night or just hanging out with friends. The back area, with its traditional tatami-style seating, is especially charming.

We went late afternoon and were there for 10 minutes before they greeted us. Then they proceeded to seat us but on our way to the table, told us we can’t order anything for 40 minutes. ???!!!!???
I was confused so asked them to clarify. They said their boss and cook were not there and food service was not available. What??
We left and came back an hour later and the door was still opened but when we walked in, someone said we are closed.
Why don’t you lock the door or have a closed sign?? We wasted paid parking twice!!
The service is a joke. Obviously, they have no consideration for their customers.
After reading reviews of all the bait and switch tactics, I’m glad we avoided that mess.
Don’t bother.

This is the first time I’ve ever written a bad review. The place is seriously overrated.
The staff recommended a tea, but they never told us it was much more expensive than the other items. When we tried to ask about the price, they ignored me. We only found out at checkout that it was $60 for one pot! The service was also bad. It wasn’t even busy at the time, but they still served other customers who arrived later before us. This place is not worth the hype or the price. It doesn’t deserve to charge prices like that. There are many other much better places to go.

I work in restaurants and have worked with tons of great bartenders, but damn this is the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. No lie!
Thank you Henry for the hospitality!

Truly such a magical place! The tea and food was superb. They really care about quality and I could tell how much thought was put into every aspect of the shop. The tea leaves were roasted and brewed right in front of us, the aroma was exquisite! The staff was polite and even offered us to try some of their rarest tea on our way out. I definitely will be back here. This is my new favorite place!
