Senbird Tea

The tea here is delicious. My favorite one is their Hojicha Homura Roasted Green tea powder!

The tea tasting is amazing and the service are so nice! Worth the effort to come here. Their tea is so natural and fresh.

I booked an appointment via email and got the chance to try out a couple green teas in house. I got the opportunity to learn about how to make it, and even took home a Kyusu and some of the in-store looseleaf tea. Would recommend whether you're a complete beginner in tea or if you're more experienced.

Senbird Tea is a true delight. If you're near NYC, I highly recommend a visit to their beautifully designed showroom—an impeccably curated, serene space that feels both bright and calming. The experience alone is worth the trip.

As for the tea itself—available both online and in-store—it’s exceptionally authentic. I've been enjoying Senbird for years and have come to deeply appreciate how gently it rests on the palate. Their wide selection of Japanese teas is sourced directly from small farms in Japan and sealed fresh in fully sustainable packaging.

For context, I’d place Senbird in the same tier as Mariage Frères. What sets it apart, in my view, is its smaller-scale production, which results in a fresher, more nuanced tea experience.

Their tea showroom is cute. They made me an iced matcha latte with oat milk. So yummy.

I was just looking for a matcha whisk and came across this tea shop—ended up finding way more than I expected. Their matcha is really good, and the matcha set was so nice I got one for my wife too. Super happy with the quality and how everything was packaged. Definitely coming back.

Wonderful owners with a genuine passion for Japanese tea! My favorites would definitely be their Genmaicha and Kuromamecha. Will definitely visit again :)

Came by and tried several teas and learned a lot from the owners who made it a great experience. As noted, have to make an appointment, but worth making the time.

Had a really good experience here, was able to sample and buy a variety high quality Japanese teas and even met the super nice owners!

Non-existent phone number. Email replies are short and they later ignore you after 2-3 emails. Don't bother trying to schedule an appointment for pickup with any of the email they listed because they will never reply back or even give any dates they are available. You're better off ordering online and hoping they deliver in your area.

To save time for future customers: Apparently this shop accepts customers by appointment only. Unfortunately, this is not stated anywhere I could find (such as the website or store entrance), and I found this out only by being turned away (none too politely) by the storekeeper when I tried to enter. I would recommend that they post this information in a clear way, to prevent needless travel and embarrassment for potential customers.

I cannot comment on the products as I was not able to enter the store.

Note: Under the Google Maps mobile page (but not on the desktop page), the phrase "Appointment required" appears when you expand the "From the owner" tab, towards the end of the second paragraph. One would have to go out of their way to find this information.

Highest quality tea, customer service responds so fast! I purchased the black soybean tea and green tea candies. Packaged very secure for shipping and they included a hand written note. Aww ? Happy to support this small eco friendly company.
