Has such a yummy and pleasant omakase experience in Astoria on a week night, thanks to That Place. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated and clean. The host/server was so attentive and sweet during the entire 1.5hr experience - my water/tea was refilled almost automatically after every sip. Same is also included in the omakase pricing which is really nice for drinkers ! The chefs worked together and created really delicious pieces- every one was super yummy. Their matcha ice cream and cheesecake were also so good ! Overall, was such a great experience and will definitely be back again for a weeknight or weekend dinner.

That Place is the best! My partner and I moved to the area last year and we were pleasantly surprised by this omakase offering. The chef is amazing, as is the service!Last week, I called them to see if they can seat us last minute for some late birthday celebrations and not only did they accommodate us, but it was past the last seating and they still greeted us with smiles and remembered us! That Place has quickly become one of our most loved places to eat in Astoria, and we will be bringing plenty of friends and family to enjoy in the future!

4.5 stars for me! I liked all the dishes except for the first course which was the Tuna Yamaimo Kake. It felt like I was eating saliva, so the texture was not for me.. Other than that everything tasted fresh and the service was super attentive! It was a special occasion for me and they gave me a free slice of cake which is very nice of them.

What an incredible experience!! A hidden gem, delicious sushi and cuisine, artistic & flavorful, Awesome chill ambiance, great value for the price, and being Japanese with high standards for NYC omakase, this was a winner! We will be back!

Really great food, and the staff was great to us! We went for the 18 course and I really recommend it! The staff was extremely attentive, the drinks were always full, and the sushi chef was very excited to answer our questions about what things were and where they were from. The pairings of really great fish with a little bit of bespoke, delicate toppings and sauces is great. And every fish was fresh as can be! We couldn't be happier

Initial thoughts after walking into the establishment was a little off footing until I realize it was a speakeasy. You walk through the Hawaiian restaurant toward the back and the door opens to a lovely upscale sushi bar (with tables on the side as well). Upon entering, the waiter offered tea they offer tea and/or water while we waiting for the seats to be ready. There's a coat rack when you walk through the doors- the servers take your coats for you and hang them. The staff was extremely friendly, and the meal came with unlimited sake. Bonus points for the really cute dishes. You start the meal with a towel pellet that grows with the cup of water they provide. Mine came with a cat that was fishing, my bfs came with a happy monk/buddha. Sooo adorable. All the of the courses were delicious. There was a lot of sushi/nigiri courses (more than the appetizers/other prepared foods). The following is the menu: Appetizer: Tuna Yamaimo Kake, Wasabi Dashi Soy Tai Sashimi, Ponzu Vinegar, Momiji Oroshi Sake Steamed Abalone, Asparagus, Kombucha Dashi Miso Soup Sushi: Tuna Kanpachi (Amberjack) Madai (Red Seabream) Shima-Aji (Striped Jack) Hotate (Hokkaido Scallop) / Uni Buri (Young Yellowtail) Kinmedai (Golden Eye Snapper) Botan-Ebi (Sweet Shrimp) Katsuo (Bonito) Otoro A5 Wagyu / Uni Uni Ikura Don Toro Handroll Dessert: Ice Cream $168 (plus don't forget the unlimited sake) My favorites were the sea bream and all of the uni courses bc I'm a sucker for uni

Great food and great service! I’ve never had a server take my jacket off for me and hang it up for me. Then when I left he helped me put my jacket on too. I’ve been to Michelin star restaurants and they haven’t even done that for

That Place is a cozy omakase place that includes a progression of appetizers, sushi, and dessert, resulting in 18 courses. We came for a first seating and had the following: +Tuna Yamaimo Kake, Wasabi Dashi Soy +Pacific Oyster, Tomato Salsa, Sansho Pepper +Steamed Sake Abalone, Asparagus, Kombucha Dashi +A5 Wagyu, Mixed Shimeji, Sake Citrus, Truffle Sauce +Tai Suimono +Tuna +Kanpachi +Madai +Shima Aji +Kinmedai +Katsuo +Otoro +Hotate +Kohada +Uni Ikura Don +Toro Handroll We ended with a tamago and a scoop of ice cream. Everything was well-thought out and executed. The atmosphere is relaxing, and I loved their foliage decor. Service was friendly and attentive. +18-course omakase +friendly service +great decor

A shadow of the Ols Poke Wave, the restaurant has been split in half with a smoke shop. Nice people, but slow and poor quality ingredients ruined my experience

Amazing food! Very intimate location and the unlimited sake was a bonus. The service was so good, we never had to ask for a top up! Will definitely be back. They even gave us an extra dessert when they found out it was our anniversary.

This place is amazing!!! From San Francisco to Seoul South Korea, I've had several omacase experiences. Some were good, some were questionable, but this place is definitely one of my favorite experience so far. Especially the price is very reasonable for the quality, and the sake is UNLIMITED for omacase. I also loved how cozy and quiet the restaurant is. I have already told every friends in NY about this place, and if you can make a reservation, I 100% recommend doing so! My personal favorite dish was kanpachi.
