I always got takeout from here, but I wanted to try it in person! It was so good! The staff was incredibly attentive and sweet. We got some chicken soup dumplings, noodles and some pan friend chicken dumplings too. So yummy! I will be coming back!

I ordered for pickup and told them that my boyfriend is severely allergic to peanuts. When we picked up the order, we mentioned the peanut allergy again. We asked if the kitchen was informed about the allergy, and the person at the cash register shrugged. She instead asked to see what we ordered. Then she informed us that we would need to remove the peanuts ourselves from the Bao buns “and then he will be able to eat it”. Obviously there is no way “he will be able to eat it” now! I am shocked at how a serious food allergy could be treated by the staff here, especially considering that the menu doesn’t even have common allergens listed on it. It’s one thing to simply forget telling the kitchen when putting in the order (which of course raises its own concerns about cross contamination, even if the dishes we ordered didn’t have peanuts), but it’s absolutely ridiculous that the waitress could even suggest such a thing. This business is lucky they don’t have a lawsuit or a dead body on their hands. Will not be coming back here, and I advise others to not misplace their trust either.

Sorry to say this, but the food was not good. The only reason I give this 2 and not one is because the ladies working the floor seemed nice.
I love soup dumplings and dumplings in general. Tried the crab/pork soup dumplings, wonton soup, and wontons in chili oil. There was peanut sauce on the wontons in chili oil, which I didn’t expect. Not a huge fan of peanuts but I figured I’d try, and it was mid tbh. I’d enjoy it better without the peanut sauce I think. The soup dumplings were…also ok. I didn’t really enjoy them but I guess I would try finishing them. I didn’t.
Then the soup—the soup is what I wanted most when I went because my stomach was hurting. The soup was the biggest disappointment of all. First off, it Took forever to get it—got the dumplings first which threw me off since most restaurants serve soup first. Anyway, had to ask about my soup since I wasn’t sure if they’d forgotten it. When I finally got it after about 5 more minutes, it was… bland! And the wontons flavor was not what I would call enjoyable. I immediately told them and asked to have it removed from the bill. Still decided to pay for the dumplings since I ate a few, but I didn’t finish anything because I truly did not enjoy the taste of any of these dishes. It’s more something I’d eat if it were free. And yet here I am, down 20 plus bucks for food I didn’t even wanna take home w me. Tbh I shoulda got the whole meal for free at that point. Just sayin. Smh and I was so excited for soup dumplings 😢🤷🏽♀️

June 2025 Update:
New menu, new staff. Must be new chefs in the back as the food tasted different. Pork chop over rice was no longer served with a marinated egg and pickles, but with egg fried rice. The pork chop was no longer satiating. Last year it came out freshly prepped and juicy with a lot of flavor. Now it's too lean and bland, like it was never seasoned. I gave the food here 5 stars last year and they set the bar really high. Now it's at 3 stars.

Past review:
An unexpected contender for best dish at Bund Dumpling House is their fried pork chop over rice (Taiwanese style). This is not on their regular menu, but on a separately laminated side menu. Got this tip straight from their friendly staff after I had already ordered their delicious dumplings and was looking for something more satiating. Was told to eat the pork chop first while it was still hot and crispy.

The bund is my favorite local go to spot! It is a hidden gem in astoria and if you are ever craving something outside typical fast food chinese this shanghai style restaurant is a must try spot to satisfy those cravings. The soup dumplings are to die for but their szechuan chicken hits the ball out the court. It has a very silky peanut sauce on top of it and makes me wonder how these ingredients came together to make such a delectable dish. The service is very welcoming, I am greeted by the staff everytime and they keep me coming back.
