Just don’t order food here comes from the pool bar. Food will arrive barely warm in plastic containers. They would do well to advertise expect a minimum 30 minute wait if you decide to order food. Would give no stars if I could.

The cocktails are competently-ish made, if nothing spectacular, though it's nice to see the Jet Set theme continuing with both an Aviation and a Paper Plane on the menu. It's decidedly not a craft cocktail spot, though it definitely would be amazing if it were. It's a hotel bar. It's a hotel bar with hotel bar prices. But what a hotel. What a hotel!
Get a Martini. Enjoy the mother of all conversation pits. Watch the art on the big split-flap board.

There’s definitely some hype around the TWA Hotel—the sunken lounge, the Connie plane bar—and since I was flying into JFK, I wanted to check it out. With all the construction, getting there took a bit. You have to take the AirTrain and then walk over to Terminal 5, which isn’t the most convenient if you’ve got bags.
But once you arrive, it really is like stepping back in time. The hotel is gorgeous, with fun vintage exhibits like a classic hair salon, retro living room and office setups, and even working payphones. We arrived around 10 AM, so it was still pretty quiet, but we explored and grabbed a spot in the sunken lounge. Drinks aren’t served until 11, which was fine—we were happy to hang out. We also walked out onto the tarmac to see the Connie up close and take some photos.
It’s not a typical airport lounge or hotel, so I do wish there were more places with outlets or better workspaces. That said, there were plenty of cozy seating areas in the lounge, the mezzanine, a restaurant, and a little food court. Once the bar opened, we got drinks and grabbed a bite before heading back to the airport for our flight.
Overall, it was a really fun stop. Anyone who loves aviation or airport history will totally appreciate it. Yes, it’s a bit overpriced—but that’s New York. I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t speak to the hotel rooms, but I’m glad we visited.

Crap food in plastic containers. I had nachos and they were like being at a ballpark. Disgusting. My son has a burrito that was so bad he ate only half and my wife had sliders so bad she only two of three. Her margarita may have been the smallest on record — for $19.

The Sunken Lounge is the best part of the food & beverage experience. It’s like stepping into a scene from Mad Men, but sadly, the ambiance isn’t matched by service. Even with reservations, there’s no table service—just plastic trays and counter ordering. A missed opportunity for such a rich setting.

A small group of us reserved a table at the sunken lounge. The service was fairly quick and the food was very good. It exceeded all of our expectations.

To be honest the food is okay but the atmosphere and customer service is amazing. Chicken bowl was good but my wife’s food came out undercooked. The manager came out and apologized and immediately replaced the food and insured we had a lovely evening.

If you have time, this place is worth a visit. Very chill place in an otherwise frenetic airport environment. You'll enjoy the 60s vibe.
The building and the bar environment are impressive. The drinks (everything from bottles and cans of course no problem) do not meet that standard: For the "Paper Plane" (Bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Montenegro & Lemon Twist) a premix (4cl + 4cl lemon juice) is shaken briefly, then poured into a (naturally unchilled) plastic glass with the "lemon twist" (here a half lemon slice with a seed) - $18. So disappointing that they don't put more effort into a place like this.

Massive wait on food. I waited more than an hour for a toasted cheese sandwich. Others had similar waits and were complaining. Felt sorry for the bar tender who was lovely. Ended up getting a free drink for my wait but 1hour+ for a toasted cheese is too long. Didn’t even finish it cause it wasn’t all that hot

If you have some free time before your flight check out The TWA Lounge and Hotel at JFK. Perfect to get a quick bite and check out all the Nostalgia of TWA past.
