Oh!well Dobetter

Upon arrival it was 3:45 on a Saturday. Our 4th visit and for the third time we get a vip attitude from the reception. She asks if we had a reservation. NO,doesn't say it is a requirement and she says well I doubt it ,let me check with the waitresses. She returns with another attitude girl who states well no reservation and I won't have a table till 5:30. Or we could sit at the bar and be seated with the club tables. We'll hate them, got to hop up on the dang chairs. We ordered the gorgozola steak salad a and sausage flatbread . While waiting they brought out the bread sticks ,I'm sorry I didn't tske a picture of these one side burnt sticks .Dry,hard so airy they almost didn't have dough. As we are watching the place fill because it was quite empty and only 2 of us and four at the other bar table. Obviously 2 fruits came and were seated promptly. Now 3 Mexicans come in and ok no room for them ,they sit directly at the bar. Our flatbread smcomes out and o.g this thing looked like it was in a fire.Burt all around as it wasn't the square flatbread ,he made a pi,za from it

I used to be a big fan of Savonas , it was our favorite restaurant but it has gone downhill. The last few times we went it just wasn’t up to par. We gave it one last chance tonight for a birthday dinner and I had to actually send my dinner back, which I have never done before at any restaurant. We were so disappointed we didn’t even ask for dessert. The quality is just not the same and it doesn’t match the price. It’s a real disappointment for our family. However, it is worth mentioning our server was great.

Update: We finally decided to return after a few weeks. Debating on whether to sit at the bar again, we did, and we had the same bartender. She was very annoyed with us obviously (facial expressions/eye rolls) but, did serve us. The pizza was cooked nicer with a decent amount of toppings. We also had the mozzarella sticks which are always good. The main downside was when Tracy was over by the server pick up area talking with someone (dressed like a manager/ food expediter) loudly about us and how we lied about everything we said, citing examples. Of course we could then see her and servers talking and staring at us later also. People should realize if you are going to clearly talk about a customer it should not be in an open spot of the restaurant loud enough that we knew it was us and not while looking at them. Although things went better my wife and I are not sure we will be back since humiliating us in front of the bar talking about how we are liars. This should not happen when you write a review. I understand people being defensive but it has no place in front of customers. She could have talked to us directly like a professional and I would have explained our position to her.

I normally give good reviews as I am an executive chef and was trained at the CIA. My wife and I love Savona’s restaurant normally. The three date nights we have had recently have been horrible. We always try to go on Wednesday since it is 1/2 off wine. The past few times our bartender has been Tracy who I guess has been there a long time. She was very attentive to her regulars sometimes she would talk with the 20 minutes and ignore everyone else at the bar ie us. When we come it is normally others. When she brought us a bottle of wine. I poured a glass of it for both my wife and I. About 10 minutes in I take a sip and notice there is food stuck to the entire inside of my glass. I calmly ask for another glass and said it was dirty. She look and said oh my yea. She too the glass threw out the wine and gave me a clean empty glass no wine. Later the same thing happened to the couple two seats down from us and she did the same thing except give her a new glass with wine which was one of her regulars. So in other words she only cares when she knows you. Also on top of that the gentleman next to my wife who was screaming through the bar about floods and if you don’t leave you will die she kept serving vodka to even when he said he was not driving home and Tracy said how are you getting there and he said ok I am driving. Proceeded to give him two more double vodkas that she did not ring in and the gentleman even fell outside the door and went to his car. The pizza I love is the broccoli rabe pizza. This time there was broccoli rabe on three pieces little dots of it that was all. It was disappointing but not like what I witnessed at the bar. I thought that Savona’s held themselves to a higher caliber especially being in Red Hook.

Update: Savonas' was nice enough to contact me the next day via email. Jessica was very professional and assured me that they would look into this more.

What happened to Tracy??
My husband and I love Savona's Red Hook! Our favorite place to eat is at the bar. We are treated so well, the bar staff is phenomenal, especially Tracy, Lucas , and Paige...we came in the other night and learned Tracy was let go. What!!!! I'm so disappointed, she was fantastic, professional, a great conversationalist, and made a mean lemon drop martini, it won't be the same without her

We ordered through doordash and the driver forgot our pizzas. We called the store and the manager drove to bring the pizzas.

Nonetheless the pizzas were very well made and tasted amazing!

My husband and I have lived in Rhinebeck for over 36 years and we eat at Savona's at least 2 or 3 x a month
The food is exceptional
I am Italian and very picky about my sauce-meatballs- lasagna and all Italian food my grandmother made from scratch
Their food exceeds any other Italian restaurant I've been to
We have tried many items on the menu and they deserve more than 5 stars

Dear Sirs: My wife and I took our son and his family to Savona yesterday for his 49th birthday. The food was brought to our table in a timely fashion. It was hot and delicious. Our server was very attentive to our needs and brought the check right away when we were finished. She was terrific. We will surely be back again.
Thank you.

never been asked to 'eat quickly' at a restaurant before. Just plain rude.
