Terrapin is in an old church. The building is beautiful and the ambiance is very enjoyable. The tapas dishes were delicious, but the main courses (strip steak and short ribs) were only slightly above average. We enjoyed the overall experience, but the food should have been better for the prices.

The food was very expensive. The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was great. The short rib was disappointing and very fatty

Another excellent dining experience at Terrapin! We drive an hour each way by choice to dine here.

Not the 1st time, or the last, that we will be patrons of Terrapin. It has always been a pleasure to dine there, whether it's dinner for two or a special event with friends or family. This time, there was a little glitch with our dinner, but our server made an extra effort to remedy it, and succeeded in a very satisfactory manner. The service and staff have always been professional and helpful with any special requests. The menu is varied enough to suit any diner's taste, with a surprisingly good selection of appetizers and main dishes from many local sources.

This is an overpriced diner in my opinion. Food is not innovative. Food at Applebees is better.

The duck quesadilla and mushroom soup were delicious! Everything we ordered was good and came out fast. The restaurant is very cozy and wait staff were very attentive.

Gorgeous room with servers glad to serve. The food was delicious from apps to desserts. Wonderful attention to detail. They also provided tapas sized plates for some of the appetizers and desserts. The food was outstanding

I had dined at Terrapin several years ago, and had remembered it quite differently than my recent experience there. I thought I recalled having decent portions of farm-fresh foods - including vegetables, free-range and organic meats and eggs, served up as wholesome and unaffected. It now seems to have evolved into something attempting to serve nouvelle cuisine, but also falls short of that. There was nothing memorable about the meals my friend and I ate there. My friend ordered the braised lamb shank with sweet and sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes for an appalling $48. She said it was good but that it seemed to be on a scant bed of spinach instead of red cabbage. Whatever... it was green, and there was very little of it. The prices had skyrocketed so much that I could only afford to order three tapas in hopes that they would suffice. I ordered one of each: Goat Cheese Filled Wontons (2), Duck Quesadilla Wedgem abd a Grilled Lamb Chop with Chimichurri. Each of the wontons had a circumference of a nickel. The duck (if there was duck in there) was overwhelmed by the onions and spices in the quesadilla. The lamb chop was flavorful, but again very small. I'm sure I would have been hungry again in an hour if the meal hadn't made me sick to my stomach. I had no sleep that night due to the after effects of the goat cheese repeating itself and bringing up bile with it. The service was fine, although not very friendly. Next time I'm in Rhinebeck, I will definitely eat elsewhere.

The overall experience fed our souls as much as our body. The food was exceptional as was the service and the atmosphere. The arugula salad coupled with the Roast Leg of Lamb plus a molten chocolate dessert topped off a great meal. Great place is a fine location.
