Delicious meal for our anniversary and service was amazing. We felt the proper attention was given to make it a special evening!

The duck quesadilla and mushroom soup were delicious! Everything we ordered was good and came out fast. The restaurant is very cozy and wait staff were very attentive.

Gorgeous room with servers glad to serve. The food was delicious from apps to desserts. Wonderful attention to detail. They also provided tapas sized plates for some of the appetizers and desserts. The food was outstanding

I had dined at Terrapin several years ago, and had remembered it quite differently than my recent experience there. I thought I recalled having decent portions of farm-fresh foods - including vegetables, free-range and organic meats and eggs, served up as wholesome and unaffected. It now seems to have evolved into something attempting to serve nouvelle cuisine, but also falls short of that. There was nothing memorable about the meals my friend and I ate there. My friend ordered the braised lamb shank with sweet and sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes for an appalling $48. She said it was good but that it seemed to be on a scant bed of spinach instead of red cabbage. Whatever... it was green, and there was very little of it. The prices had skyrocketed so much that I could only afford to order three tapas in hopes that they would suffice. I ordered one of each: Goat Cheese Filled Wontons (2), Duck Quesadilla Wedgem abd a Grilled Lamb Chop with Chimichurri. Each of the wontons had a circumference of a nickel. The duck (if there was duck in there) was overwhelmed by the onions and spices in the quesadilla. The lamb chop was flavorful, but again very small. I'm sure I would have been hungry again in an hour if the meal hadn't made me sick to my stomach. I had no sleep that night due to the after effects of the goat cheese repeating itself and bringing up bile with it. The service was fine, although not very friendly. Next time I'm in Rhinebeck, I will definitely eat elsewhere.

The overall experience fed our souls as much as our body. The food was exceptional as was the service and the atmosphere. The arugula salad coupled with the Roast Leg of Lamb plus a molten chocolate dessert topped off a great meal. Great place is a fine location.

I have dined at Terrapin multiple times, and was deeply disappointed in this visit. Our waitress took our order and returned promptly with our cocktails, which we enjoyed. However, after serving our main course, she completely disappeared. She did not return with the fresh ground pepper that she had offered. She did not return with our wine. She simply abandoned us. Since our meals were getting cold, we ate them unseasoned. Eventually, when a different server appeared to clear the table, we expressed our disappointment, but did not receive an apology or explanation. Our original server eventually returned with our check, but again no apology. I completely understand that we dined on a very busy evening, but this level of service is unacceptable.

We have been dining at Terrapin for years and it never disappoints! It can be packed to capacity but the decor somehow manages to keep up the great vibe while still keeping the noise level to where you can all hear yourselves. Food is consistently great with creative dishes and good old faves. Cocktails are awesome too.

This is one of the restaurants we eat at each year when we visit Rhinebeck. While the restaurant was not overly crowded, our service was quite slow. We ordered 4 different appetizers and the waiter chose to make each one a course - he told us he was doing so. We got our salad first and then waited a very long time until our next “course” came out. Our salad plates were not cleared away either after we'd finished. When the second item came out, I asked the server to bring out the other 2 since we had already been waiting for quite some time. For not ordering any main dishes, we were at the restaurant for almost 2 hours. A little disappointing. Not sure we'll go back.

Lovely spot for an early dinner! Menu for dinner was great, plus they do have a different menu for the Bisto. Building was pretty cool too! Excellent service!

Food was mediocre. My caesar salad was not good and poorly dressed. My toddler was so excited for her birthday and they didn't acknowledge it until she told them. Also, not even a candle or anything for her dessert that we ordered.

This restaurant was fabulous!!! We went for our anniversary and it was the beautiful romantic experience we were hoping for!!! The mushroom soup and short ribs were wonderful. The service was classy and attentive. Highly recommend!

So the food was nothing more than OK. For example- I had a NY strip steak which was nothing more than you can get at Applebee’s (no disrespect). But that’s irrelevant. Why? Because it took 20 min since we were sat at the table until they got our order, and another 50 min until they served us.
Atmosphere - non existing. This place is a big mess hall that caters to large groups. Consequently, couples (like us) get lost and not really treated as expected.
Short version: skip it.
