All I can say it’s a lovely bakery. The ladies was so helpful behind the counter with us explained and give answers for all of my questions. I brought fish it was fresh and delicious the donuts huge the rye bread heaven and I go crazy for they chilled beets soup. Can’t wait to try on friday the veggie stuffed cabbage.
Northside Bakery is one of those local gems that doesn’t shout for attention—it just quietly does everything right. Tucked away in Glendale, it offers a warm, old-world feel with an impressive spread of freshly baked Eastern European breads, pastries, and prepared foods.
The bread here is the real deal—crusty, flavorful, and made the traditional way. Whether you’re grabbing a sliced sourdough, a dense pumpernickel, or something a bit more indulgent like a loaf of sweet babka, you’re getting something that tastes homemade—in the best sense of the word. Their cream horns and bread pudding also deserve a shoutout: rich, satisfying, and full of flavor without being overly sweet.
Staff is generally friendly and efficient, and if you’re lucky enough to snag one of their Too Good To Go bags, you’ll be shocked at how generous they are. People walk out with bags stuffed full of bread, pastries, pierogi, cookies, and more—at a value that’s hard to beat anywhere else.
The shop is small but clean and well-organized. There’s not much in the way of seating, so it’s more of a grab-and-go spot than a café hangout—but that’s part of its charm. The vibe here is less “trendy bakery” and more “local institution that’s been feeding the neighborhood for decades.”
A couple of things to note: it can get busy during peak hours, and if you’re after something specific, it pays to come early. Service is usually friendly, though occasionally you might have to wait a moment before being helped. No big deal—good bread takes patience.
Overall, Northside Bakery is a dependable spot with a strong sense of tradition and an honest approach to food. It’s not flashy—but it doesn’t need to be. Just good, solid baking that keeps you coming back.
Always fresh and a huge variety
Excellent highly recommend, just don't go into this place hungry everything is delicious 😋
Bread is soooo good
I went there today for the first time with my daughter and the food was excellent we spent around $90 all was worth it. The blonde lady who served us and checked us out was so pleasant she even threw in a free loaf of bread bcs it was our first time there. We will be back A+
Yesterday my husband took his coworkers for lunch after whole day working on the roads nearby in that extremely cold weather. They ordered delish warm lunch and The Bakery Gave each worker a donut - paczek . Even though it was so cold outside this gesture made their hearts warm and appropriated . I would like to Thank Northside Bakery for that kindness and generosity. 💝🙏💝
Love their baked goods and food!

The bread is delicious, the food (soups, takeaway meals) is delicious. Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. Recently I found out that "PACKING SHOPPING IN A BAG IS NOT EMPLOYEE'S RESPONSIBILITY" ...I already wanted to ask for a refund of the payment on my card and I wanted to leave the purchased items because I decided that I REALLY HAD NO OBLIGATION TO SHOPPING THERE. However, I decided to share my reflection with you.
This will be a warning to others.
I have been shopping in this store in Glendale for years, at the beginning there were no prices for the products, I noticed, it didn't help much... the prices finally appeared last year. There is a price list for bread and cold meats, but there are no prices for food products... they are not marked... (As I always say, you can charge as much as you want and the customer will pay anyway).
To sum up, the bakery makes very good bread, but the food products are very expensive. Tours are sold by weight for takeaway...there is also no price list...going into the bakery and wanting to buy a roll for $3.00, you can leave spending over $50.00
I will quote again the words of one of the saleswomen "that the store staff is not obliged to put the purchases in the customer's bag"... the paper bag is the responsibility of the seller and is added to the final price of the purchases... However, I am not obliged to shop there.

Love their baked goods. It’s not the best but it’s good enough. The staff here are quite unfriendly tho! I stood there for a long time, and they completely ignored me, despite there being many of them.

What I like about this store is their European products and bread. However, I need to mention that the service is really mediocre. Some of the staff have an attitude, chatting instead of attending to customers, and they are very slow. I usually see customers upset and tired waiting 10-15 minutes in line to be served, and some of the ladies just act like they don't see you?!
It should be improved as soon as possible. It's their job to serve, not a favor!
