Rude bouncers
Horrible, pretentious people at the door that will not let you in unless you know exactly which DJs are playing at that exact moment, regardless if you came to see a different artist. This establishment is the antithesis of what the New York music scene is about - discovering new, unknown artists at fun venues with your friends. I was in a group of 6 people and Nowadays bouncers cost every DJ there the opportunity to gain more fans tonight. Absolute disgrace of a music venue.

always a blast been coming here since they opened. like all dance clubs they’ve been impeded by frat bros and tim tok girls who come to look at instagram posts but they enforce the rules about no phones on the dance floor well.

Fun venue. Regularly has 12-hour plus events with DJs. Lots of my favorite DJs from Europe end up playing here. Great sound system, and unique atmosphere. Almost feels like a music festival inside.
There’s a fairly strict no phone policy, which helps add to the energy of the dance floor. Lots of drink options at the bar. Tons of places to sit down and relax, or even meditate.

Love the no phone policy & free water. Sound system was top tier. Did get hot on the dance floor though
Loved this place! Great outdoorsy vibe to hangout and get drinks/food.

Turned away the entire line cause people didn’t know every detail of the DJs playing. The vibes have majorly dropped off over the last 5 years I’ve gone here. Take your smiles and good energy somewhere that will receive it
Non-stop vibes and no discrimination.

Weird place. Place felt like one of the universal rides because once you get inside, youre in this little room where a guy gives you a rundown of the rules, regulation, safety information before you go on the ride, or in this case the actual bar. Went here on Halloween and music was more attuned towards the gothic emo community because it was random dark beats. Fog machine was intense also to the point where my friends and I needed to step outside because it was hard to breathe. Kinda late to review it for Halloween but this experience has just stuck with me to forget how bad it was. Didn’t bother getting drinks since the vibe of the place was so incredibly off. If you’re into weird beats, excessive fog, leaving with bleeding ear drums, and into the goth emo scene, this is the place for you, if not, don’t go. Could be just a Halloween event but either way for a $10 cover charge it was not even worth even a dollar.

Been coming for years, and every time I'm back it's less inviting. They still front as friendly and inclusive, but it's clear what this is now: a semi-private party for them and their crew. I've never been turned away, but the way I see them treat people at the door consistently sets a bad tone. Strict entry policy is one thing (good even!) but power tripping is another. This isn't Berghain–no one is that desperate to see your nepo booking for the eighth time. As someone who used to love it here, please get your policies straight before it undermines your whole brand.

I recently visited Nowadays on my yearly trip to NYC from SF, and honestly, I was pretty disappointed. A small sober group of mixed friends felt singled out when a shorter white hipster bouncer wouldn’t let us in just because one friend couldn’t name the DJ. We were told to wait two hours due to capacity, yet random people without tickets were getting in ahead of us as we initially waited for about 1 hour and were not asked about the DJ performing . I’ve loved this place for its inclusive vibe over the years, so it felt off to be treated like that. I get crowd control is important, but this experience was just strange and frustrating since it felt like a personal attack on character that I was not fully aware of . Hope they can do better!
