The Baker's Workshop at Suffolk Community College Culinary Arts Center is a treasure. It serves healthy breakfasts and lunches prepared by expert chefs for a reasonable price. Breakfast is served from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, and lunch from 9 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday. The Spring 2025 semester closes on May 15, 2025. The food is terrific, with salads that are fresh and absolutely delicious. The pastries are amazing, and they do not waste food. A flour-less chocolate cake with beautiful chocolate flowers on top is available, and the price is so reasonable. There is also a selection of desserts and gelato, though not all cakes are available daily due to the curriculum. The staff is friendly and never makes anyone feel rushed. Vegetarians have no issues with substitutes. A group of 24 Aquaerobic Students had a great luncheon there, and everyone raved about their order. The facility is clean, and the entire kitchen is on view. Diners place their order and wait in an adjacent room looking over Main Street, where staff bring the order to the table. Downtown Riverhead offers ample free municipal parking. The only disappointment is that they do not serve dinner.
