Black & Blue Steak and Crab, Rochester, NY

We went July 9th 2025, my wife and I eloped that day and went there for dinner. Our waiter asked us if we’re celebrating anything and we said we had just gotten married. He told us he would bring bubbles (champagne). We were caught off guard when the champagne was on our bill. Food itself was ok at best. I had the porterhouse which was 20 ounces but I now realize that includes the bone. There was not close to 20 ounces of meat on the steak. I also asked for it rare and it was perhaps to rare. I always eat my steaks rare and am never running to the bathroom afterwards but not this time. Fries weren’t close to crispy. My wife had salmon. Again nothing special for what it cost. We didn’t ask for the bubbles he just brought it out and charged us for it. We went 7 years ago in 2018 and I remember it being the best steak I ever had. This time around it was a huge disappointment and I can’t see us going back again. The restaurant itself is beautiful so I have no complaints about the atmosphere but quality has drastically dipped over the years.

Excellent steak house, cooked to perfection!!

Steak wasn't cooked correctly (both times). We both ordered medium rare, the NY strip was cooked as expected pink through and through, but the ribeye came out closer to rare (blood red throughout the meat). After refiring there was no pink and was over-cooked medium, and the manager brought the steak back out and watched me cut into it, pressuring me into accepting it as it was. Steaks were pretty flavorless as well. The dessert chocolate cake tasted more like a Hostess chocolate cupcake than what would come from an upscale steak house.

I tried the 12 oz ribeye medium rare and asparagus, I probably could have done it myself for alot less money....

We absolutely love this place, best filet I have had in a long time. Benjamin is awesome too!

Great service and the BEST steaks

This was a great relaxing dining experience. Our waitstaff was excellent. Please do not be in a rush when you come.

The atmosphere was was great. Our waitress Bella( at the Rochester one) was amazing. Very knowledgeable and friendly sling with our hostess and other table help. Was a great experience. The only thing I was disappointed in ( which wasn’t any of these peoples doing) was my porterhouse steak. For the money, it should have been a nice cut. It was an end cut, one that even some stores don’t use…let alone a very upscale restaurant. It was also supposed to be med rare n was med. I didn’t send it back because st least it was pink, but it was well past med rare. My crab cake was very good. The lobster and crab mac and cheese was also very good. I’d definitely recommend and go back. Just not sure if I’d get the porterhouse again. Probably go with just the filet.

Greatly appreciated the hospitality for my 49th birthday dinner, compliments of my wife.

Our meal selections were absolutely delicious ? — so much that, i'd begun grubbin' my wife's Lobster & Crab fondue & i DON'T eat seafood

Despite the disappointing experience wit' my entrée, i quite enjoyed the attentive assistance of options to satisfy my tastbuds.

Dined in on Sunday for the first time. It was our wedding anniversary. My husband and I were sat upstairs, the setting is beautiful. We were so happy with everything from start to finish. The food and the service were amazing! Johnny (server assistant) and Benjamin (server) were both attentive. Even the food runner was professional! Benjamin was very knowledgeable when it came to everything. This was our first dining experience that we enjoyed entirely. (Coming from the restaurant business ourselves and my husband being a chef) we were so happy. We’ve tried almost everything around Rochester but THIS is our number one. This will be our new date night spot. Thanks Benjamin for being so awesome!!!

Visiting the Finger Lakes area for the weekend. Black and Blue was recommended to the hubs and I. We were thrilled.

This restaurant is superb. Tracy provided great service. The food was top-notch. Highly recommend!
