I sat at the bar with a friend and was ignored for most of the night. While people around us were quickly served—given drinks, menus, and food—we struggled to even get basic attention. We were never offered food until we explicitly asked for menus, and even then, no one followed up to take our order.
What made this worse was the realization that I was the only Black person at the bar. My white friend was with me, but it was clear to both of us that service and attention were consistently going to others, not us. When I finally proactively asked for food, the bartender (Jess?) was combative and said I needed to wait my turn…even though we had been waiting for at least 20 minutes to order. She said I was angry because they didn’t have my drink order, when in reality I was fine with taking her recommendation on a different brand.
This felt very targeted a more than just poor service. I felt unwelcome at my “neighborhood” bar.

Great wait staff! Fish fry and French fries over cooked on August 15, 2025. I’m hoping that it was just bad night for kitchen staff. Usually fish dinners are awesome!

Our group came in on a Wednesday for Wing Night. Great variety of sauces, wings were all cooked perfectly. Nice selection of local beers on tap. Emily our bartender did such an excellent job. Dicky’s is one of Rochester’s oldest bars, and if you haven’t been there, you should definitely check it out.

Good wings and comfy dive neighborhood restaurant and bar. Pool table in second room, great to catch up with friends in a super casual dive place.

Love this quaint pub! Matt was a great host and the food was delicious. He was so open to suggestions for some of the vegan food we ordered - poutine, buffalo tofu bites and vegan nachos with jackfruit. We suggested adding more of a hot sauce or vegan queso to the nachos and he welcomed the suggestion so openly. Their poutine veggie gravy is so so delicious! You’ve gotta try it.

Simply fantastic place! I am right down the street and I explained to one of the staff that I was killing time because my neighbor was doing work on his car window downstairs and I wanted to get away and wait to the noise went away. I told her I was going to stop in for a couple beers; it was before 4:00 and she let me in early. Super nice! Thank you. Extremely friendly staff. Damn good neighborhood pub! I'll definitely come back..
Lest forgetting $4 genny pints

Had the best time at Dickys. Bad ass corner pub. Excellent friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Everyone should check them out.
A very cool neighborhood bar. The bartender, Calvin, was super friendly. He gave us a brief history of the place. The food was quite tasty and reasonably priced.
