DiPisa Old World Submarines

Easily my favorite sub spot in the greater Rochester area. The staff are very welcoming and kind and the food is fresh, warm and served with generous portions. I am slowly making my way through their specialty subs and so far their Bistecca Genovese (grilled steak and salami) and Maiale Giacomo (grilled ham and pulled pork) are real winners. I also love that you can get any of their subs as a wrap too. Can't recommend the spot enough!

The best sandwich shop in Rochester!!!

A million million stars…. I am blown away!!! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 My husband ALWAYS comes here for lunch as he works nearby. Literally a stones throw away, I’m so jealous he has such easy access to this local gem. So I knew when I was downtown this was my moment I finally get to try this goodness for myself. As soon as I walked in this awesome sub establishment, there was a lively buzz in the air. So many workers workin’ away slinging their sub skills, and it was really nice to see the dining area was alive with happy customers all munching away happily. Ever since Covid the businesses downtown have taken a serious toll (so disheartening) but seeing this happy busy moment inside this local treasure? It just really was such an uplift to my sub lovin’ soul.

Now- as to what I actually ordered and loved. THAT CHICKEN FRENCH SUB was out of this world amazing. I ordered a medium and omg, it was huge. As soon as they handed it to me I swear it was like I was in a gym, lifting a weight!! And of course I tell the workers how my husband always comes here and I was so excited and then they were so nice and welcoming.

It was an overall A+ experience. Do NOT sleep on this place. Come here to fulfill all your sub-tastic dreams. Great menu with fair prices and largest portions. They sure know how to pack a sub. The bread was the PERFECT consistency, was not soggy from the ingredients, is this magic bread from a magician? I do not know.

All’s I know is that I will be back. And I encourage you to do the same.

Some of the absolute best subs I have ever had in my life! my favorites (all made to order) include: 1. Their December sub of the month, a turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cheese sandwich (opted for no cranberry sauce) 2. the biggest bacon egg and cheese I have ever eaten, and the best. lord have mercy, I am a sucker for crispy bacon and my God they delivered 3. Top notch cheesesteaks packed with meat. they do not skimp on portions! In addition to their delicious food, DiPisa also has some of the nicest staff you will ever encounter in any eatery. Buncha great people in there. Prices are EXCELLENT for the quality and size of the sandwiches too.

Rubinos who? Depisa's is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to subs in rochester, Ive been exclusively getting subs from Hegedorns when it was open and rubinos. But Depisas takes the cake, I ordered extra meat on the subs and multiple staff members had asked me if i ever ate their before, and they explained they load the sandwiches with meat. I still ordered extra meat on my italian assorted and to my surprise the sandwich artist brought out something that weighed more then a new born baby, looked like one of the scooby doo sandwiches from the cartoon back in the day. Man i could only finish half, but the bread was fresh, the toppings were crisp and it was loaded to the tee with cold cuts. Probably about a 6lb sandwich when it was all said and done. I will never get a sub from anywhere else. you have earned a new customer

Absolutely wonderful.
I came here to grab some lunch for my husband, ordered a large special steak sub, a cannoli and drink. The sub was way larger than expected! More than enough to feed 2-3 hungry people. Not to mention the mouth watering goodness we experienced from the first the last bites! It reminded me of my grandmother's cooking. The cannoli was delicious as well.

The staff didnt fall short either. All smiles- super comfy atmosphere. I will most certainly be back.
