Hi, So that was my ten year old daughter who got short changed today. This is the second time in a row that the male owner has short changed my child. She offers to run in so I don’t have to get the baby in and out of the car seat. Both times was just for a loaf of French bread. The first time I gave her $10 and he gave her $1.25 back- another customer stopped her at the door and said “he didn’t give you the correct change” and he yelled out the door “I thought it was a five” Today I sent her with 5 $1 bills because I was going to tell her to keep the change as a tip for getting out of the car. She came back with a quarter. I thought about driving away because it’s only a dollar but to me it’s the principle of it all. Honesty and integrity. But she went back in to politely inform him that she gave him $5 (it was in a wad and yes I’ll do better telling her to count it out but she’s new to using money) and he got incredibly nasty and she said he raised his voice to her. We are so disappointed. It’s not about the $1 but I hope when your drawer closes over today you remember that you yelled at a child after short changing her.
I just want to share an experience that I’ve had twice now at a local business. Not to put them on blast or tell anyone to stop going there because they have great product, just to kind of put out there that you should count your change when dealing with a certain employee especially if you send your kids in.
My kids and I love DVs bakery, we just eat the warm bread in the car when we run errands. My oldest daughter asks if she can run in sometimes so that I don’t have to get the baby out of the car. The man who is there has short changed my ten year old twice now. The first time I had given her a $10. The bread is $3.75. When she was walking out the door, another customer stopped her and said “he didn’t give you the right change” and the man said “sorry I thought it was a five.” Today I sent her in with 5 one dollar bills because i was going to tell her to keep the change as a tip and she came out with just a quarter. She went back in to tell him she gave him $5 and he got nasty with her and yelled that she was wrong.
I’m just so disappointed at this experience. Been going there since I was a child with my own mom. I am a front end manager and when an employee short changes a customer but we cant confirm it right away we take their phone number and call them after we balance the drawers at close. It’s just a dollar but I am so sad that it seems intentional and that he treated my daughter poorly.
Favorite bakery to get a loaf of fresh bread and the best french bread pizza around.

Hands down, the best bread in Rochester. I’ve been coming here for many many many many years. As far back as I can remember and I’m 59 lol. I only wish they were closer to where I live now lol. But I still make the trip from Leicester, New York all the way to Irondequoit to get their bread.

Fabulous french bread!!! Be sure to buy extra & freeze. It will still taste amazing a week or two later!!!
I stumbled upon this charming little bakery today and had an experience that truly warmed my heart. ❤️ They operate on a cash-only basis, and when I found myself without cash, the owner, with a genuine smile, told me not to worry and to simply pay on my next visit! As if that wasn't kind enough, when I mentioned it was my very first time there, she surprised me with a complimentary loaf of hot, freshly baked bread. 🍞 I was absolutely blown away by her generosity and trust. This is the kind of local business that deserves all the support. You have to visit!
Friendly, fast service. Great prices and the best baked good in town!
The perfect place to unwind with good food
