We first discovered this restaurant 15 years ago. At that time, it was located in the Park Avenue neighborhood in a charming, historic home. The food was wonderful and we returned the next night. On our next trip to Rochester, the restaurant had moved to a large historic home, in a not-quite-as-charming neighborhood, but the food was still delicious. Fast forward to 2025, The French Corner has now made a fourth move (we missed the third move), out of the downtown area to a strip mall tucked between a dollar store and a beauty supply store in what looks like a banquet hall with not a lot of charm. The food is still wonderfully delicious. Maybe I’m a superficial, hopeless romantic, but I yearn for the charming atmosphere to go along with the truly authentic Cajun food. I am happy to see The French Quarter still in business after all these years. I’m hoping they are able to add some good, old-fashioned New Orleans charm to the banquet hall once they are settled. Call for hours (the website is hopelessly confusing) and believe the address on the website because Apple maps takes you to the previous location down the street.
Great experience

My first time here! The atmosphere was decent with the jazz music but definitely more of a comfy family business vibe than big corp. The appetizers we got were the jambalaya and the gumbo. The portions were so filling! I had the Crawfish Étouffée and it actually had a lot of crawfish tails! It was a little bit too salty for me but overall it was delicious. My significant other got the Cajun fried catfish with Brabant potatoes and sweet potato fries. The catfish was really tender but wish there was a stronger cajun taste. The sweet potato fries were delectable! Will have to order two orders of that next time. My friend got the smothered catfish with chicken Étouffée and Brabant potatoes and dirty rice. There was also a side order of fried okra I forgot to take a picture of but they were delicious. The batter was nice and crispy!
The desserts we got were the beignets and 7-up pound cake. The beignets were fluffy, crispy and with the sweetness of the powdered sugar, this was a 10/10 for me. The pound cake did well in its flavor description, which was 7-Up. Overall for a party of 4, we spent $108 before tip. We will be returning in the future!

I was skeptical at first since I was unfamiliar with creole food but this place was amazing! The inside had nice wall paintings and jazz music on the TV. I got the Cajun catfish and it did not disappoint. I was also pleasantly surprised by the portions they gave. People are saying I have to try the red gumbo next so I will definitely be returning to this place!

Ordered the shrimp fettuccine pasta . The recipe said creamy . My pasta is nowhere near creamy: The dish was dried . I called and spoke with Courtney and asked if I could have it remade : she said there was nothing they could do about it and that the chef made it the same way he always does . What kind of customer service experience is that . She said I can pay 5.00 for a side of sauce. UNBELIEVABLE !!!! Not to mention the place looks like a hole in wall . Might as well just convert to a food truck.

The food was mind blowingly good. Really enjoyed everything we'd gotten and have a need to go back. The crawfish boudin balls were amazing. The blackened catfish with crawfish étouffée was cooked perfectly. Same with the shrimp étouffée with fried okra. Everything came out piping hot. My wife and I were shocked they aren't busier. We'll worth it and highly recommend. I wish they had a bigger sign.

I went here with my client for dinner.
I had the garden salad (run of the mill salad... Homemade croutons were delicious though) and the Red Gumbo which is absolutely delicious.
My client had Jambalaya (it smelled divine) and Blackened Smothered Catfish topped with Crawfish Étouffée, Brabant Potatoes, and Dirty Rice. He also ordered banana pudding (I was way too full for dessert and I only made it through half my gumbo), he said everything was delicious!
The food takes time to come out but I'm more than happy to enjoy the ambiance and relax while amazing food magic is happening in the kitchen. Our waitress was thorough and attentive and our food was delivered piping hot and fresh.
I would highly recommend this place for a casual dinner!

Great food but they never pick up the phone for take out order.
Is take out not a thing? They're always unavailable on apps, and getting anyone to pick up never happens. Should I only go in to order takeout in person?
Wait till you taste the food
I've come a few times and the food has always been good. Good service and selection.
No parking, rough crowd
