Service was great, its just the food we tried had no right being as bland as it was.

We went there Friday night to celebrate our UR student senior night. We had made a reservation for 3 and showed up a little early around 6pm and were one of the first to be seated. When we first got there I noticed it was a little cold but thought maybe it was just me or maybe it was because the room was still a little empty. Our waitress was pleasant enough but she took for ever to come check on us, bring us drinks, apps, etc. Meanwhile we all started noticing how uncomfortably cold it was which made waiting that much more uncomfortable. Other people came and were sat. I think this one waitress was taking care of the entire room. She ended up taking the order of the people sitting next to us that sat down much after us before us while we waited longer. This led to our food coming out after them as well. Still cold in the room I put my coat back on and then noticed other people in the room had their coat on too. Our food finally came out and it was delicious. We made a comment to the waitress about how cold it was and she said oh it doesn’t bother me. Maybe she thought we were talking about how cold it was outside, which it was, but it was so cold in their restaurant we all had coats on and wanted to leave. Food 4 stars, service 3, atmosphere 1 star because of how cold it was.
2/4/25 Update. Thank you for the response. Again the food was delicious! I hope the heat situation has been fixed.

Tables are wobbly, and me and my mom recommend having a soup of the day and maybe a soup or sandwich deal.. Also recommend having a pizza option on your menu... Maybe even consider having a rotating menu

I hate to say it but this was honestly so disappointing. The atmosphere was ok. I oddly had soundproofing material randomly under my table, That was odd but I guess if you have an loud room there could be some justification. Server was nice, nervous but nice. The Food... Well I got their Hanger steak that was pre cut and came out looking like it was a bunch of chewed meat the cook on it was ok but very unappealing... My Girlfriend got the "chicken Cutlet" which says on the menu it is a chicken thigh in The Hideaways defense but it was nothing like a cutlet and everything like an overcooked deep fried flavorless dried out piece of chicken laid on top of salad. Between The grease that was pooling on the bottom of her plate, the cook being so over fried that it crumbled because it formed a crusty shell actually made her sick. She could barely eat it and tried her best to eat the salad but gave up pretty quickly. We had a show we were going to so quickly got the check to leave. We will not be returning.

The atmosphere doesn’t fit the menu. We were disappointed that the menu changed from the website. Not worth the price. However, the servers were pleasant:)

Our friend attended a speed dating event at The Hideaway tonight and we went along for support. Turned out to be a great date night.?
The Mrs was thrilled with her Old Fashion? and our friend really liked her cocktail too.
Our server was awesome and the food was quite good. We started with the buffalo cauliflower bites and crispy potatoes, which were clearly house made... including the dipping sauces.?
For entrees, the Mrs got the Santorini wrap (falafels) and I got the Hideaway burger?... we both got side-salads? instead of ? for the sides. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium and the side-salad was very good.
In all, it was a great meal and wonderful service... we will be back... 100% RECOMMEND.

Max catered our wedding. We did appetizers and stations. Inwas worried that there wouldn't be enough food doing it this way. Max assured us that it was not going to be an issue, he was definitely right!
Our 200+ person wedding was completely satisfied and full! People are still talking about how good the food was!
Great job Max! Will recommend the Hideaway everytime!
Great service and food.
Food was good but the server took away the plates way too quickly. I ordered the mussels and was still eating them, and they took away the discard plate. I had to get out of my seat to go ask for another one. Server also came by too many times, if I need you I will wave you down. Some people don't wolf down their food. Thanks.

We had brunch here over the weekend and I was very impressed. Service was good, food (I opted for the skillet breakfast)/drinks were delicious and the restaurant is open and airy. Very cute inside. The only negative thing was the parking situation. Park Ave fills up quick so you’re left with the side streets which also fill up quick on the weekends. Other than that, it was a hit among our group.

This is a large unpretentious venue with a brunch service on Sunday. It is solid: does not impress, but does not disappoint either, the menu is full of sandwiches, fried potato, and other cheap carbs, the SAD has had it here for sure, but so what if you're hungry. Would come again to try something else. The hazy ipa was the best part.

We really liked the quiet and under-decorated nature of The Hideaway. It was uncluttered and relaxed and unpretentious. We could talk and hear each other effortlessly which is so much more enjoyable than most restaurants that are so loud these days. Our waitress was very attentive. The Buffalo cauliflower was the best we’d ever eaten. It was so light and so tasty with a great accompanying dip. The burger tasted great with very natural flavors and the toppings blended in a way that was delicious but not too forward or “loud”. I was underwhelmed by the brioche bun. It was fine but not up to the snuff of the quality of the burger. The scallops were perfectly cooked. The Brussels sprout, mushroom, and creamy purée of something side was good but not spectacular. The cocktail, something with plum liqueur, was one of the best we’ve had anywhere in Rochester. We’ll become regulars here.

I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken breading was bland. No flavor at the. The dill spread was overpowering. I was sitting at the bench. At one side there was a baby stomping that was felt all the way down the bench. The other end a guy that kept getting up and down. The bench isn’t secure. There had to have been three or four BABY birthday parties. Parents letting their children walk around the restaurant. If you enjoy bland food and babies this is the place for you
