We really liked the quiet and under-decorated nature of The Hideaway. It was uncluttered and relaxed and unpretentious. We could talk and hear each other effortlessly which is so much more enjoyable than most restaurants that are so loud these days. Our waitress was very attentive. The Buffalo cauliflower was the best we’d ever eaten. It was so light and so tasty with a great accompanying dip. The burger tasted great with very natural flavors and the toppings blended in a way that was delicious but not too forward or “loud”. I was underwhelmed by the brioche bun. It was fine but not up to the snuff of the quality of the burger. The scallops were perfectly cooked. The Brussels sprout, mushroom, and creamy purée of something side was good but not spectacular. The cocktail, something with plum liqueur, was one of the best we’ve had anywhere in Rochester. We’ll become regulars here.

I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. The chicken breading was bland. No flavor at the. The dill spread was overpowering. I was sitting at the bench. At one side there was a baby stomping that was felt all the way down the bench. The other end a guy that kept getting up and down. The bench isn’t secure. There had to have been three or four BABY birthday parties. Parents letting their children walk around the restaurant. If you enjoy bland food and babies this is the place for you

Had the hanger steak. The most expensive item on the menu. Both the steak and seasonal veggies were relatively flavorless. About the only thing that had decent flavor was the garlic mashed potatoes. I see the owners advertise a catering business in equal measure alongside the eatery and that's exactly what the meal tasted like: something I'd get in a lukewarm tray at a wedding.I've lived a block away for 6 years and had yet to try the Hideaway until this visit. Never got around to trying the previous iteration. I wish I had. There was one other dish on the menu that looked interesting, but at this point I don't see myself going back.Too many other good places in Rochester.Service was perfectly fine, friendly. Atmosphere was bland. Perfectly average.

Unfortunately I have to revise my review from 5 stars to 3. We came tonight, and had to send back the burger as it was the wrong order. It was a plain burger with goat cheese only. We ordered the hideaway burger with gouda. It also comes with bacon and aioli. Mistakes happen, however the replacement burger was overcooked and missing the aioli sauce it comes with. We also ordered a vizzy drink twice, which unfortunately never came. Clearly an off night but I can’t hype this up anymore.

We were seated at our reservation time. Very wobbly table. It took a fairly long time before we were greeted. Drinks were at least 10 minutes before they hit the table. Two burger ordered Medium Well with salads. I guess the salads are served with the entree. I would've preferred them first. 25 minutes after ordering, they came out together and both burgers were medium rare at the most. Didn't see the server again for at least another 10 minutes. Partner asked for Tabasco sauce, a different type was brought out. She could've stated "oh sorry. We don't haveTabasco, we have X. Is that ok?"No offer of dessert or coffee when box was brought for the burger I brought home to finish cooking. Food was good. Just wish it were prepared to our preference. But definitely will not be back if this is the service that is given. Very disappointing.

Just recently reserved the private room for a dinner for a non-profit board that I'm part of. It was a fantastic experience overall. The restaurant was amazingly responsive to email, great about checking in, and even arranging for parking next door. Everyone in our group was so impressed. The food was great and reasonably priced and the staff was attentive and friendly.

Food, drinks, service, price, menu, ambiance; 5 stars. Where are the crowds? Would like to keep this a 'hidden gem' but why keep a good thing to yourself?

My wife and I are new to the area. We were driving around and hungry and stumbled upon The Hideaway by chance. It was our first time there, and it will DEFINITELY not be the last time. The food is SO good, and the prices are incredible. Great drinks as well. My mom is visiting in a couple of weeks, and we're going to bring her to Sunday brunch. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We ate at the bar. I had a delicious chicken dish that had artichoke hearts and peas with a wonderful lemony sauce. It was served with perfectly prepared mashed potatoes and asparagus. Our bartender was friendly and attentive.
