Folks pls be careful. Got lied to about the pork ribs being beef. Asked for pork ribs they gave me some big chewy beefy ribs in a container. Ordered the pork sandwich meal, got the same thing. big beefy ribs in a container no bread, no sandwich. Went back up there the daughter got the nerve to put the bread in aluminum foil and hand it back to me. Still wasn’t the sandwich I paid the extra dollar for. Check yall meals before you leave that place. Know the difference in ribs to avoid conflict, it be your own ppl frl.
The food was very delicious 10/10 and will be my new go to spot for some good soul food

Had a variety of meats. The jumbo jerk chicken wings were on point. Smoked oxtail with the gravy was meat candy. Pork ribs seemed a bit overcooked and dry still stuck on the bone. Beef ribs were tough to get off the bone. Seasoning and flavor for the pork ribs and the beef ribs were great. Their bbq sauce had nice flavor as well. The mac & cheese and potato salad were solid. Good service.

I heard of this establishment on the radio. Someone was raving about. So I told some other people about it and we made it a destination. We weren't disappointed at all!! This place would give Dinosaur a run for it's money!! The portions are huge! What I bought in the picture only cost me $21. I've been spreading the word about this place for days! Some people know about it and surprisingly a lot don't and they live in the city of Rochester. I would highly consider this place. If you are in the mood for bbq!!

Small place with a big taste! I’ve had the grilled wings and the beef ribs so far, both were incredible, especially with their homemade bbq sauce. The Mac n cheese and jerk rice are solid sides to go along with the entree.

The first real BBQ I have found in Rochester!
I got the rib and wing combo. I was pleasantly surprised by how AMAZING everything was. You can tell immediately that the ribs are rubbed and smoked, not steamed then grilled, as they have the perfect texture and smoke ring that only comes from smoking. The rub itself is wonderfully flavorful. Even though I asked for my sauce on the side, my ribs were sauced, BUT I was pleasantly surprised by how good the sauce was and how well it complemented the meat. I wouldn’t dare to get them any other way going forward. The wings were meaty and perfectly smoked as well. I hadn’t had good smoked wings since moving up north in 2022.
The sides themselves were worthy of their own rave reviews. My wife and I tried the mac and cheese, cabbage and yams. I’m telling y’all this were the best sides I’ve had in years. The mac and cheese was perfect, not over baked, nor dressed up “shells and cheese,” that seems common in the area, but perfectly executed comfort food. The cabbage was cooked with peppers giving a ton of flavor, and had a wonderful little unexpected kick. The yams were delicious with just the right amount of sweetness without being syrupy.
I am originally from the Atlanta area and my family had a smokehouse, so I can be picky to say the least. Most BBQ places local friends have sent me to have been any combination of: not smoked , over sauced (hiding the quality of the meat), not properly trimmed (resulting in meat that’s to dry or too fatty) or serving obviously frozen “BBQ,” product not made in house. If you want to know how ribs should taste, J’s is the only place in Rochester to go.

Cabbage, greens was so damn salty, had to throw them out. Prices are somewhat okay. I miss the lady who did all the cooking. She's not there anymore and the food is very different.

Fire wings good deals
This was my first time coming here. When I walk through the door there was a lady screaming at me about buying her desserts. I mean being very pushy and I almost left. When I got home I ate the food. Two hours after that I was on the commode and sick to my stomach. It is now the next day and I've it the toilet 13 times 😢😢😢PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU EAT.
Just heard of this place today and it's awesome. I got the beef ribs with greens and jerk chicken rice. Only 20 bucks for a bunch of food. Damn near two meals. Id drink the sauce out of a hobos jockey shorts.

This was the 1st time for my husband and I. The service was great. Very friendly and attentive. The portions were plentiful. Well worth what we paid for. My only issue was that the juice from my greens and cabbage got in with my potato salad. I would suggest draining the juice first or place either in a side dish plastic container. Other than that, the food was delicious 😋
We will definitely be returning. The beef ribs, with or without sauce are the truth!
