I had the curried chicken for dinner one night, and it was so good I came back the very next day for lunch. That should tell you everything, but let me paint the picture.
When I walked up to the counter, Mama B herself was there. She’s warm, friendly, and has the kind of presence that makes you feel like you’re in her home kitchen rather than a restaurant. I didn’t even bother looking at the menu - I just told her the things I wanted, and she built me a box of pure magic.
Inside: tender beef oxtail dripping with rich brown gravy, perfectly cooked rice and peas, cabbage and veggies, plus jerk chicken that packed spice, smoke, and soul in every bite. The flavors were bold, fragrant, and layered - the kind of food you can’t rush because it’s made with love and patience.
The curried chicken from the night before was unforgettable - tender meat in a sauce that was both comforting and vibrant, the spice warming without overwhelming. The oxtail? Fall-off-the-bone tender, with gravy so good I wanted to drink it. And the jerk chicken? Smoky, spicy, sweet, and completely addictive. You can tell Mama B cooks with her heart, and it shows in every bite.
If you’re craving a true taste of the Caribbean, don’t overthink it - go to Mama B’s and order a variety of things. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t imagine there’s a single thing on the menu that isn’t bursting with flavor.
Next time, I’m trying her “Rasta Pasta” with jerk chicken on top. If it’s even half as good as everything else I’ve had, I may never eat anywhere else in Rochester again.

They got the best patties in town! They most likely made them from scratch unlike other restaurants. It is soft and flaky. And the filling is tasty.
Sadly they are temporarily not available :(
I hope they bring back they awesome patties soon.

Needs support and signs to direct people to the location it’s hidden. Also was in need of Mac and cheese. Rice was slightly spicy and should not be but was over all really good the food was very tasty.

So I came during lunch hours. Google said this place had affordable lunch specials. When I got here, I saw the sign up that said lunch from 12 to 2 so I started to order this. I also saw that the Rasta pasta was on that and I started to order and then the lady said oh no that’s from last year we’re not doing that anymore. I said oh OK. I then asked her what The small size plate looks like I’ll be honest. It looks the same size as the medium size plate because the medium size was longer but shorter. I think they’re both the same but needless to say it was $13 for that and then I said OK let me get a beef patty so your beef patties are the same ones that you buy from frozen from Costco in a box of 10 they come with beef and beef and cheese. She probably got these from Price right because she cut one open to add a slice of cheese. It is wild out here. I should’ve just bought something from Palmers on the plus side the pasta and the sauce taste really good but the chicken not gonna lie I don’t think she made that today. It’s kind of dry, but it is seasoned. Would I recommend not for that price sorry because it’s pasta and I know pasta is cheap and I know how to make cream sauce. It didn’t involve any wine so you can’t say it’s because of that I know how much a thing of cream is. It’s not that terrible. It’s like four dollars for a big container you’re only using about a quarter cup for my pasta so I should have a bit more pasta for 13 something dollars I understand one piece of chicken OK no problem there but for what I paid it was almost $20. I feel ripped off.😢

Food was delicious! We shared a large jerk chicken plate with rice and peas. Comes with steamed cabbage or tossed salad but we skipped those. The ginger beer Jamaican pop was yummy and refreshing! Definitely would recommend!

Food was served with no gloves on, she gave us dried out mac and cheese when she should have just said there was no mac and cheese at all, the pepper steak we ordered was served with only 5 pieces of cheap looking flank steak and was covered up with all peppers and onions to make it seems like more than what it was. Portions of food didn't match the price at all. Rice was hard as well. Just very disappointed overall and won't ever go back. Don't waste your time, go to the city for jamaican food.

Best chicken and rice plate ive had almost ever, yum. The tenderest of chicken! Flavorful jerk not burn your mouth jerk. The rice and peas were perfect with cabbage. Even a sweet little plantain wedge. The coco bread is extra and fluffy! Try Mama B’s!I need to try the Oxtail next.
PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AN ORDER THIER OXTAIL!! I order a small oxtail on door dash and the oxtail was hard it need to cook longer or pressure some more . You can’t sell people food like that they are paying there actual money come on ! The oxtail was swimming in oil before I even open the box the bag was cover in oil . This is a terrible experience and if I was in person I would carry it right back sorry

Highlight of our experience was our waiter, Stefano. He was a delight. Very accommodating, personable and one reason we might return. The rest of the staff could be a little friendlier. Food is ok, not always prepared the same. Very popular and reservations are needed. For us, it’s been “hit or miss.”

The J*** Chicken Lunch I had was delicious. I had grilled vegetables and rice and peas. There are two tables so you can eat inside. Parking is available. Mama B’s is located just across the street from the parking lot of the King & I Restaurant.
