Next Door is a great spot for special occasions. It offers a unique Japanese fusion, and its top hospitality gives you a one-of-a-kind experience. Everything is thoughtfully put together if you want, and experience watching the chefs at work in the sushi bar, observing sushi chefs obsessed with detail, organization, and fish so fresh you'd think it was swimming in the ocean in the morning. That being said, come here!

Red wine served warm at room temperature 👎needed to be chilled. Not much choice if you dont like raw. Attentive service by all staff.

The food and service were excellent as always. The sushi is a reliable go-to, and the new crispy chicken recipe was a hit. Cocktails were exactly as ordered, and Jia is our favorite server, providing recommendations and was on top of everything. Always pleasant and with a smile.

Everything was wonderful/ The lobster was not only perfectly prepared, but also cut up to make dining simple. Great job and great service.

Excellent, rivals my Nobu experiences. Food excellent, service with a smile, and very good. Ambiance was exceptional, I'll return soon!

We had three kinds of sushi rolls and they were barely distinguishable and lacked flavor. The spicy rolls were not spicy and I have a low tolerance for heat. It was all underwhelming, unfortunately. The dessert, my mocktail and my husband's scotch (the special) were all delicious! I'd return for the entrees - I've had one before and it was great - but I'd pass on the sushi.

The new decor and menu are outstanding! The sushi is so fresh and sea bass just melts in your mouth.

FANTASTIC! We dined here for our 38th anniversary dinner. Sarah served us and she was EXCELLENT, as were all of her back up service team members. Wine suggestion was perfect! Food was beyond AMAZING! And a shout out to Sean for making us feel so welcome & comfortable. We will be back. Best sushi we have ever had....(and we eat A LOT of sushi). Thank you team @ Next Door Cheers! Rick & Steve

We went here to celebrate my birthday. We had a reservation for 8 o'clock. We were 10 min late and they were still able to get us in on a Friday. We got a couple different dishes. My favorite was the 6 peice Nigiri sampler, pork gyoza, red dragon roll. I did not enjoy the tenderloin skewers. They seemed to be the off cuts and for the amount you get I think there are better options for the price. I dont think the waitress ever told us the specials. I loved the Japanese indigo beverage and the golden orchard. My partner got the branzino which was perfectly cooked. For a special occasion this was worth every penny!!!

I think I had the best sashimi I've ever had here, wow. The space is so stunning and cool, and all the food is incredible. This is 100% done right by Wegmans - you will not be disappointed.

My reservation through Open Table confirmed it's for a birthday. When I called the restaurant to ask if they place a candle for a birthday if we bought dessert, they said yes. I even informed our waiter we're celebrating our daughter's birthday. But dessert came out with no candle. We did notice other tables who celebrated birthdays had a candle. Perhaps our waiter was just lazy and didn't really care to be working there. So onto the restaurant and food. I like the concept by Wegmans, but they fell short on pricing and service. They're trying to serve high end sushi with high end pricing. The sushi pieces were so small, so I was still hungry afterwards. Glad we ordered other items and sides. There was no order of how things came out. Sides came out before appetizers. Then the sushi orders were wrong, as we got extra pieces we ordered and some we didn't get. Plus, service didn't clear plates really at all. Felt like we were fighting to find space at the sushi counter for our finished plates and new food plates. We had to stack used plates to make room. It's like no one who brought out food cared to remove finished plates, including the server. It wasn't until the end when we were having dessert did they clear plates. Overall food and ambience was decent but service and attention was lacking. Next time I'm going back to Shema Japanese, where there is better value and better sushi quality.

The Next Door Grill never disappoints. Sushi is top quality; other dishes are equally delicious. Service and ambiance make it an upscale yet relaxing experience. The quality of food and experience warrants the slightly higher-than-typical prices for sushi - you won't want to eat it anywhere else after coming here!

Dinner was amazing. Sitting at the Sushi Counter was interactive and fun for the whole family.

So, this was our go-to spot for our anniversary and celebrations. However, they have made a lot of changes recently. The menu has become more “Americanized”. A few of our favorite options that were on the menu are no longer available. The prices have gone up even more than the already high prices they were originally at. And I think most of all, when they first opened, the staff was on-point and highly trained. However, now they seem to be less trained. We waited 20 minutes for glasses for our beers after asking multiple times. Our conversations were interrupted to take orders etc.
Nothing unusual for restaurants in America, but when you go to such an upscale place like this, you expect perfection, and it just felt like an average restaurant with average customer service, high prices but an amazing atmosphere.
Not sure if we will be back to be honest.
