Disappointing actually. While the tastes and quality of the food offerings continues to be very good, the available range of menu choices seems to have condensed as they focus more strictly on seafood and sushi options. The seasonal tasting menu had desirable options but only if all parties at the table were confined to order from those choices. Service errors and slow responses were a bit of experience spoilers and a good portion of the floor staff appeared to be in training, so lots of staff walking through the room which doesn't fix anything if the orders come out wrong.

Next Door Restaurant delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. Our server, Robert, was exceptional. He was attentive without being intrusive, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and clearly passionate about the food and drinks. He offered thoughtful recommendations and answered every question with confidence, which helped to make choices about quantity of food as well as flavor profiles. The rest of the staff was equally welcoming and professional, making the atmosphere feel relaxed and well cared for. I highly recommend the Red Dragon sushi roll it was beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and packed with flavor. The seared scallop nigiri was delicate and fresh, with a perfect sear that enhanced the natural sweetness of the scallop. And the ribeye was cooked to perfection. It was tender, juicy, and full of rich, savory flavor that easily rivaled a high-end steakhouse. Between the service, staff, and truly excellent food, Next Door is a place I would highly recommend and can’t wait to return to.

Went here on Friday to celebrate my Fiancé’s graduation from chiropractic school with our parents. Food was delicious, atmosphere was great, aesthetic was beautiful, and service was excellent! Tanya started us off with prosecco to celebrate and I enjoyed a Lychee Martini and my Father the ND margarita! We ordered Yellowtail Ceviche, Pork Gyoza, Porkbelly Skewers, Edamame, Red Dragon Roll and Tuna Tartare for appetizers (all super delicious)! For dinner we ordered the Red Dragon roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Salmon and the Seabass for dinner. They then brought Dubai Chocolates for us to enjoy during the bill. Everything was superb and we felt well taken care of and special! We highly recommend!!

The main room is the best designed out of all the rooms so request that when reserving. Recommend the tuna tartare, Caesar salad, and Yuzu mocktail. Wouldn’t get again the sea bass, king salmon or truffle fries (just not worth the price is all). Will definitely be back for the first few dishes.

We have visited Next Door for special occasions over the years and have always appreciated its beautifully designed interior. However, given the price point, our primary expectations are consistently centered on attentive service and exceptional cuisine. Unfortunately, our recent experience, meant to celebrate a birthday, fell short. We waited more than 20 minutes before our server approached to take our drink order, and our appetizers arrived before the beverages. While the starters were acceptable, they did not merit the premium pricing. Entrées were delivered individually as they were completed—a process our server mentioned beforehand—but a delay of more than 30 minutes between plates is simply unreasonable. Dessert service was similarly slow. The seasonal apple and buckwheat dessert proved underwhelming, though the banana option was satisfactory. Overall, the service rated a 2/5. Our server appeared stretched across multiple tables, and we frequently felt overlooked. Having spent significant amounts here over the years, we sincerely hope to see improvements in both service efficiency and culinary. execution.

Next Door is a great spot for special occasions. It offers a unique Japanese fusion, and its top hospitality gives you a one-of-a-kind experience. Everything is thoughtfully put together if you want, and experience watching the chefs at work in the sushi bar, observing sushi chefs obsessed with detail, organization, and fish so fresh you'd think it was swimming in the ocean in the morning. That being said, come here!

This restaurant has turned into the best in Rochester. Always had very good food but they are now truly exceptional. Last night we went to celebrate my birthday and everything was unreal. I had (again) the bronzino which was incredible. The chicken dish, bolognese, and lobster were all great too. We also had the mac and cheese which was one of the best I have ever had. I don't know much about sushi but the tuna nigiri was amazing. For dessert, the pastry chef came out to explain each one we ordered which was a really nice touch. The strawberry cheesecake was especially delicious. Jia was our waitress and she was great at her job with a super positive energy.
