Plum Garden Japanese Restaurant

Loved their food in the past. Ordered scallop hibachi $36 plus tax. Got 10 small (1/2 to maybe 3/4 inch) scallops and two tiny dry and chewy (and not in a good way) shrimp. The rest of the food was okay. WAAAYYYYY overpriced for the amount and quality of the protein.

The food was amazing. The chef was phenomenal. He did forget my steak so I had to wait a few minutes longer than everyone else but over all it was a great experience.

Used to enjoy this place. It is absolutely NOT the same. The place was dirty, food cost was definitely not commensurate with the quality. $40 for a basic bento box. Chicken was old and clearly reheated numerous times. The server tried, but management appeared miserable and we felt like a number. The food honestly was absolutely horrible! Never again.

We arrived for a 7pm reservation and our family of four wasn’t seated until 7:50. There’s just no way to have a good experience after that. The food was fine but our chef was visibly stressed and clearly in a hurry. There’s simply no reason to give your money to a restaurant that has no consideration for their customers and we won’t be going back.

The food is great and the location is nice, but don't get takeout from them: they forgot my miso soup and rice (which came with my meal), and put avocado in a dish they said didn't have it (my mom is allergic). For $61, I would hope for more consistency.

Make sure you can send your meal back when getting food from here. Otherwise, this is the best Japanese restaurant in Rochester after Shiki's decline.
