The food was delicious. It was a wonderful experience, and Redd lived up to all the positive reviews. We had 3 courses and drinks.
Very loud place, weird ceiling speakers everywhere. Lobster shell in my risotto. Three little pieces for expensive pork belly.. Waiter, Jeffrey, was slow and ignored us for long periods, and always ran away real fast. Other servers wouldn't take our empty glasses, we had 6 empties at one time that they kept ignoring and literary kept walking away without taking them. It was just okay in general, I would just go to applebees and call it a day. Service just isn't what it used to be.

The food is good and the service is good the problem is simply this. If you’re not a friend of the chefs you don’t get the preferential treatment. It’s weird that you can’t make a reservation at the bar unless your this one couple? I’m am so sorry Chef that I am a “Less than”. The chef’s and friends I know that own restaurants want everyone to feel special not just their 2 friends. Anyway who cares the food is ok but lots of restaurants in Rochester have great food and treat everyone like they’re wanted.

My husband and I have been to Redd many times and have loved it every time. We wanted to come here for a special date night before we have family coming in for a few weeks, but our experience tonight left a very bad taste in our mouths. We came in for a 7:45pm reservation and was told that the previous customers have not left yet. We waited for 15 minutes (not a big deal) before getting seated at a booth, and subsequently waited for another 10-15 minutes before we had an opportunity to put in our order for drinks. Our waitress disappeared for a while when we wanted to order food, which is when we started getting restless. The manager seemed to have noticed and took our order. When the food came, we found a piece of hair in our Bouillabaisse. Our server was extremely apologetic. The manager then comped our half-eaten Bouillabaisse, but did not personally come to apologize. While we love the food here, the customer service tonight was atrocious. We will not be returning for a long while.

Dined here for my fiancee's 30th birthday on the night of the solar eclipse. We (5 of us) were sat at a booth and while the environment was lively, it was not too loud, and we were able to exchange our conversations freely and easily.Overall, the food was exceptionally delicious. One caveat I will add is - we ordered a salad and the salad was so fresh there was a tiny little beetle that rolled off the plate! The server was kind enough to quickly replace the dish, though, so it was not a big deal. The rest of the food was delightful (we got a ton - the lobster risotto, scallops, fluke, etc., and all of them were a hit), and the desserts in particular (banana foster and butterscotch) were absolutely amazing.I personally don't drink, but my fiancee and friends do, and they had exceptionally good things to say about the selection of wines. We had a wonderful time and would be happy to return.

I also don’t think this place is a good choice if you have dietary restrictions – I don’t eat pork or dairy, and it was more difficult to find dishes for me than I expected. There seemed to be a lot of elements of the dishes that could have been made to be flexible with different dietary needs, but had meat and/or dairy instead.
