Just a good old fashioned burger
It's a Rochester must have!!!! Cheeseburger on a hard roll, everything except onions, french fries well done with brown gravy and a chocolate milkshake! I can only hope that my last meal will be as good as that! Staff down at the lake is great, really fun and friendly!

I never thought I'd be around long enough to see one of my forever go-to's (over 50 years} - a Rochester icon - take a nosedive the way Schaller's has. The first time (several busts ago) found the food to be very noticeably subpar, so I gave it a few more times before writing this - and it pains me to have to now, after yesterday's visit. This was not a once "bad day" situation - it's actually gotten worse. Their food is terrible (and I really hate to have to say that). Their once iconic cheeseburger was totally flat & tasteless. Even their once woundetful fries were terrible. I could go on, but it's clearly obvious that they are cutting corners & using much lower grade food, yet they're the prices continue to climb. Is have no problem paying it, IF the food was even acceptable, but it's not. This is all very noticeable and noticeable a one time problem. Even their pickles area definitely not the same - they even look like they've been thru a war & are nasty - they are definitely not first class any longer. And then there's the service - it too has taken a nosedive. Every time I go in there there's new faces behind the counter - and no one is killing themselves serving customers. I sincerely hope the owners / management reads this, and that someone has the sense to turn all of this around and damn soon. Even if they were charging half the price they are now, it would not be be worth it. I truly don't think they're going to survive for much longer if this isn't turned round really fast - bad news travels fast, especially when a restaurant (especially an icon like Schaller's) falls off the deep end. Again, I truly HATE having to write this - it's actually a last ditch effort to hoping that someone will take rapid action on this, before it's too late. In the mean time, we will not be going back again - I've wasted too much money on bad food. Good luck Schaller's - I'd love nothing more than to see you back to your old iconic glory.

So I've been eating here for a while now. The food is average. But the prices are HIGH. $5.10 for french fries and $5.60 for onion rings is RIDICULOUS. The portions aren't that big to justify those prices.

The food is always very good.
My son came into town.
From an area he now lives in and.
There is nothing like this where he lives. totally enjoyable food.
Somebody needs to find out how to make strawberry milkshakes. My granddaughter got one and it was neon pink and totally undrinkable disgusting.

I like this location! Been going here for as long as I remember and it's never seemed to get visibly worse. Food has always been top-notch - ice cream especially. Although, the service could be a bit better and the place is *slightly* dirty at times, but it's not a big enough problem to affect my general opinion of the place.

Stopped in completely by chance. We had a had a burger and steak sandwich. Took me back to a time when the burgers were larger than the bun. Loved the pickles!

So I think this place is still in business because of its nostalgia factor. My husband loves this place and his memories as a kid. He also loves their hotdogs with cheese! Me as an east sider have no connection. I found this place incredibly expensive for fast food! I found the ordering process unique (just crowds around the counter) but give a shoutout to the young crew for remembering everything without writing it down. Food is ok. Standard fried stuff. I liked their pickles
