Such delicious sushi!! The servers were sweet and the fish was so fresh. My friend from Hawaii said it was the only place she gets sushi in rochester because it taste fresh like she used to get back home... thats enough to make me keep going back!

As noted in previous comments, it would be great if they could decide when they truly close. If you are open until 9:00 - or last seating is 8:30? why ice out customers who arrive at 8:15 as we did? We had just driven from out of state through a tough bit of weather for a funeral the next day. It was a Saturday night, and looking for a restaurant in walking distance, headed to Shema. We were glared at when we walked in - sat at a four top, and then told by the server (who was actually really nice) that they were out of all soup including miso, all noodles, and the Sushi bar was closing up in 10 minutes. It was not at all busy. We left, walked around the corner, and had an amazing dinner at a restaurant that took great care of us. With other great choices in Rochester - so many great restaurants! - it’s a shame they treat potential customers this way.

Very very good sushi. Rice is perfect and they have a nice selection of special rolls. Highly recommend giving this place a try you will love it.

A great place for sushi. The spicy tuna roll is one of my favorites as well as the tempura cheesecake. The QR menu is not my favorite but other than that if you like sushi I'd recommend checking it out.

The food here is delicious but the service is absolutely terrible. Me and my girlfriend have been turned away twice. The first time was because we showed up an hour and a half before close and we were told it was take out only when on the door there is a sign that sign last seating at 8:30. The second time we were turned away simply because we didn’t have enough people in our party. We had 2 people and there were 5 4 person tables open. We were told that those tables are reserved for larger parties when the restaurant doesn’t take reservations and is first come first serve. It’s safe to safe they should have a rule book on seating because it seems like they make it up as they go. We will not be giving this place anymore of our business

Went for dinner with friends tonight and the food was delicious, server was amazing, and we had a great time. Will definitely be going back.
As always, Shema is delish, with lots of options. The Shrek is a marvelously balanced treat. Yummy yummy was also very nice, with a bit more heat. We always enjoy the basic tempura shrimp crunch. Our only disappointment was the lunch hour was to go only. Home is 20 minutes away, so we balanced in our laps in the car so we could enjoy it hot. Everything was packaged well. The online order process was simple once we arrived and learned it was to go only. We saw others leave upon seeing the sign. Would be nice to have the option of online ordering but eat the "take out" at their tables. Saving them from having servers but allowing us to enjoy it there.
