Was going to come for wings on Wednesday found out they are closed for failing health inspection to bar bill we go!
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at South Bay Bar and Grill. The restaurant was noticeably dirty and had a strong sewage-like odor throughout our visit, which was very off-putting. To make matters worse, there were fruit flies in both my drink and my wife’s drink.
When we brought this to the manager’s attention, they refused to remake the drinks or offer a refund, showing a complete lack of concern for basic cleanliness and customer service. Given the unsanitary conditions and how the situation was handled, I would not recommend this restaurant.

My experience at South Bay Bar and Grill left me with serious concerns about cleanliness, professionalism, and overall respect for the community. From what I personally observed, food safety and sanitation did not appear to be a priority. Behind the building, there were large numbers of trash bags left sitting out, many of them torn open and disturbed by animals, which was alarming and unsanitary.
What was even more troubling was the behavior of ownership. The male owner repeatedly made physical contact with female patrons in ways that appeared inappropriate and made people visibly uncomfortable, and he openly spoke negatively about his wife, who is also listed as an owner, which was extremely unprofessional and awkward to witness.
When concerns were raised, the response was essentially that he could do whatever he wanted because it was his business, which says a lot about the lack of accountability. In my opinion, this attitude reflects poorly not just on the establishment but on the area as a whole. It felt dismissive of both customers and the standards the community of Webster deserves.

I came here for food, not to observe an ecosystem. Watching pests casually roam the dining area was definitely not on the menu, yet here we are. It’s hard to enjoy a meal when you’re more focused on what might crawl by next.
Cleanliness is literally the bare minimum for a restaurant, and somehow that bar wasn’t cleared. Once you notice bugs, all trust in the kitchen disappears instantly. Friendly staff and decent flavors don’t matter when basic sanitation is clearly optional.
Save yourself the appetite loss and eat somewhere that understands pests should stay outside — not share the dining room.
I wanted to like South Bay Bar and Grill, but my experience was extremely disappointing. During my visit and from what I personally observed, the restaurant has since been shut down due to a rodent infestation, which honestly was not surprising. I witnessed mouse droppings in a box of potatoes, and servers openly complained that food items at the server station were not labeled or rotated properly, which raised serious food-safety concerns for me.
What stood out just as much was the lack of professionalism. While customers were waiting long periods for their food, owners and management were sitting at the bar drinking with customers, instead of addressing delays or helping staff. It gave the impression that customer service simply wasn’t a priority.
To make matters worse, there was an incident outside where the owner was using heavy equipment to move cars from the front of the building, resulting in damage. From what I observed, there was no apology or accountability shown to those affected, which was incredibly frustrating.
The only positive thing I can say is that a cook who was frequently unprofessional and disruptive was eventually let go. Unfortunately, by that point, the damage to the overall experience had already been done.
At the end of the day, I’d rather wait an hour at Bar Bill across the street than return here. Until there are serious changes in cleanliness, management involvement, and accountability, I personally would not recommend South Bay Bar and Grill.

Soups where salty or bland, and the veal was burnt and the chicken french was barely sauced and mushy.

Restaurantji Recommends
The only thing I would suggest is you ask for the daily specials they were not offered and after I got my bill I saw that I had ordered was special, but I didn’t get the price other than that very underrated. I will definitely go back.

The owner is BEYOND rude to customers in our experience. We would never recommend this piace, so many great restaurants nearby that you don’t need to bother with this one.
Short staffed and still gave our party of 5 attentive service. Even when some in our party wanted the entire list of beer available!! Thank you!
