Well worth the drive to eat on the water. Solid seafood. Service was really slow. Waited 10 minutes before we got up to ask for more drinks. Server was sitting inside. The food and views made up for the lack of service.

What a surprise this was! I have lived not far away for my entire life yet I never expected to find a waterside restaurant in this neighborhood. The road there goes through a variety of less than attractive spots but it is worth the search. The placed has inside and outside seating, an attentive staff, a waterside view and delicious food. We enjoyed excellent fish and chips with terrific french fries. The prices were reasonable and the portions generous. I'd call this a find especially on a lovely day.
Good casual restaurant. Awesome in the summer .

My favorite stop when I go in and out of JFK. Food and service is terrific.
The outdoor seating area has spectacular views not only of the water but also JFK air traffic. Menu is decent, and includes both bar food and seafood. Not for tight budgets. The main downsides are the parking lot is small and can be difficult to maneuver and at certain tables it may take a long time before they give you menus and take orders. The wait staff seemed a little bit lacking in awareness that we were ready to order, they need to proactively be checking. Can get busy.

Always a nice visit on a sunny afternoon for lunch on the water or a sit-down dinner and drinks inside the restaurant. The menu items are vast with both bar food and entrees. I've never had anything I didn't like here. The staff is friendly and service very efficient.
Revisited 9/14/24 and I'll say again, the staff and service is excellent. Nothing over the top but basic consideration and decency go such a long way for me. I stress this because I've been out many times, and the service was not pleasant. Having a great dinner last night was partly due to the mannerisms of The Bayhouse employees. In addition, all of our food was amazing and the mixed drinks were nice nad strong. I can only describe this restaurant as a hidden gem or diamond in the rough. Needless to say but I will always be up for lunch or dinner here.Revisited 9/14/24 and I'll say again, the staff and service is excellent. It’s really a bar on the water that serves some seafood. Very plain aside from it being waterfront. Took my parents here since I saw the reviews were good but it’s not really a restaurant for any kind of company. It’s a very good bar to meet up with casual friends. The fried calamari is awful.

Great place for lunch or dinner, right on the shore of Jamaica Bay & if they’re landing on Runway 31R at JFK - a front row seat to the airplanes landing.
Parking: Parking is a little tight but can be expected.

Waste of Money and Disappointing Experience
Firstly, having a rat near our table on the dock was completely unacceptable and unsanitary. To make matters worse, we were served only four mozzarella sticks for $11, which felt like a rip-off. The drinks were even more disappointing—virtually no alcohol in them, and we left them 3/4 full. The waitress was dismissive and seemed uninterested in providing decent service. I’m used to fine dining, but this experience was far from it—disgusting and inhospitable.

Do you know when you have a flight and are afraid of traffic you leave very early and when you get close to the airport you decide to look for nearby places to have lunch? So, that's how I found Bayhouse. The service is terrible, the attendant is too lazy to serve you and you feel like you're there ruining his moment of rest, but the food, boy, the food is so delicious! And very well served! For the food alone, I recommend localz. Oh! And by the view too!
