This was our 2nd time to Matteo's. We were introduced to it by friends just last week and we knew we were going to return soon. Their special $39 menu is fabulous. They don't skimp on the selections, food is delicious and the portions are generous. Not to mention, they give you a glass of wine with it. Whoever put the menu together is genius and we can't wait to return and bring some friends and family to our new favorite place.

Great place that is beautiful inside! Also they were very accommodating to my 2 year old son who is very well behaved. Service was terrific and the food phenomenal. Their marinara sauce is garlicky, which I am not too fond of red sauces being that way, but this sauce was out of this world. The biscotti is the best I've ever had in 40 years.

Matteos is part of the Rothman restaurant group. The food is excellent . They have a $40 dinner special that includes appy,, entree And dessert. An excellent deal. Comes with a glass of house wine which was very good. The baked clams classic were very good. Also the mussels appy was good. Could use a few more mussels. Eggplant Parmigiano was light and delicious. Generous portion. The atmosphere is charming and romantic.. our waiter was a bit disappointing. He was in a hurry grabbing plates and rushing to serve entree. A waiter can make or break a dining experience. Parking is the problem. They do not have a lot. Parking is on the street. No handicap. Do have valet parking. Getting there early will make it easier to park. Do recommend Matteos.

A group of friends & I have been dining at Matteo's every 4 -6 weeks for over a year. Aside from the food absolutely delicious, they offered a three course dinner for $39.95 which for our group was a great value. We arrived this past Friday night only to find out that they no longer offer the deal on Fridays & it had just gone into effect. Needless to say we were very disappointed, but not about to leave. As always the food was delicious but the cost was much higher than expected for seniors on a fixed income. Moving forward we will have to think twice about dining at Matteo's.

Food is average at best. Should take a bit more pride to ensure your waiters understand the menu and how to communicate with guests.

We went for the $39.99 dinner special which is now available on Sunday evenings. Stuffed mushrooms could be stuffed with something other than bread crumbs. Sole oreganata was tasty and served with broccoli rabe. Dessert choices were biscotti with cannoli cream, ice cream or tortoni. Tortoni should be with toasted ALMOND, NOT coconut. But all was good and service is excellent. The deal is good. Restaurant should absolutely bring the dinner special menu without being asked.

Been here twice now, once back in Dec. 2023 when they offered Prix Fixe meals for $40/pp. It was the best deal - appetizer, entree and dessert. Choices were about half of the regular menu but very manageable. Last visit was Valentine's Day with my family. The restaurant was 85% full but still lucky I made a reservation. Given the snowfall the day before, it could have been hit or miss. Reservations made on Open Table, super easy. Appetizers we enjoyed: - prosciutto and mozzarella, you can choose 2 or 4 slices of prosciutto and then it's paired with huge cut pieces of fresh mozzarella. Plating wise, wish they had more fresh basil or garnish for color. And the mozzarella portion which was generous but oddly sized. Like balls split into halves. See photo. - grilled octopus with cannelloni beans over greens with vinegar and olive oil. Favorite appetizer of the night. - second favorite appetizer was the meatballs. Excellent sauce. - previous visit I had the baked clams and stuffed mushrooms. Those were good, same breading though so I probably should have ordered differently. Entrees: - veal milanese was delicious. Thin pieces of veal, nice shareable portions, breaded and served with fresh cut up tomatoes and chunks of fresh mozzarella. Again missing some green but it was really good. - mushroom pasta was creamy and rich. Enjoyed this. - Veal Parmesan was again, generous portions. Great sauce. - penne a la vodka with prosciutto, needed more sauce but it was very robust in flavor. This one had parsley on top, gave it a nice finished look. Complimentary bread basket and butter on the table. Nice table setting and when the waitress realized how cramped our table was, she opened up the panels on three sides, to give us more surface area. That made the dining experience more enjoyable. Desserts were also generous in portion. Can't believe that Napoleon was for an individual portion. Totally recommend this place but someone needs to work on the plating to make the dishes just a little extra.

Food and service is outstanding. We have been to Matteo's at least five times. You will not be disappointed. Only advice: make sure you have reservations and arrive early to find parking. There is no lot so side street parking fills up quickly.

Our first visit was Long Island Restaurant Week. The food was wonderful. Only complaint was the meager portion of linguini with the chicken parm. There was a generous portion of chicken on the plate. How expensive is pasta? Despite that, I'll be returning for future dinners.

Returned here in Jan 2024 after spending 15 years living in LA and dreaming of the chopped salad, clams casino, and veal parm... and my expectations and experience were surpassed! Not only did the restaurant interior have a beautiful makeover but the recipes were exactly the same and perfect as I remember. The prices have gone up but so has everything, I believe the midtown tunnel was about $4.50 when I left and now it is $12! Back to the restaurant, it's best to call for a reservation ahead of time. The waiter was prompt, the food was cooked to order and I highly recommend all things Italian on the menu!

Last night, my dining experience at this charming Italian restaurant was largely a delight, marked by the warmth and efficiency of the host and wait staff. Their attentiveness and genuine care set a welcoming tone right from the start. The pacing of our meal was impeccable, with the perfect interval between our appetizers and entrées, allowing us to savor each course without feeling rushed. We opted for selections from the restaurant week menu, a choice that offered both value and a taste of the restaurant's offerings. Our appetizers, the clam dish and calamari, were promising beginnings. The calamari, in particular, stood out for its size and the light, flaky batter, paired with a marinara sauce that complemented without overpowering. While the seasoning was somewhat understated, a squeeze of lemon juice provided the necessary zing to elevate the flavors. For my main, I chose the Shrimp Luciano, served with spinach. The sauce was a revelation, rich with huge chunks of garlic that infused every bite with depth and warmth. The shrimp themselves were cooked to perfection, making this dish a highlight of the meal. Another dish at our table, the Pappardelle e Funghi, while luxurious with its truffle cream sauce, unfortunately fell a bit flat due to a lack of seasoning. The pasta was well-cooked, and the concept was indulgent, but it missed the mark on delivering the full flavor profile one might expect from such a richly described dish. The wine selection provided a fitting accompaniment to our meals, offering a variety of choices that catered to different palates and preferences. It was a thoughtful compilation that matched the overall quality of the restaurant. Desserts, however, didn't quite entice us as much as the rest of the meal. While not unenjoyable, they didn't stand out as must-have finales to our dining experience. Overall, the experience was a positive one, marked by excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant clearly shines in its ability to create a welcoming environment and deliver dishes that are, for the most part, well-conceived and enjoyable. A few minor tweaks to seasoning and dessert offerings could elevate the experience from good to unforgettable.
