I've had take out from Kuryu a few times and originally i was like, "yikes, portions are small!" however, after adjusting my expectations about the quantity, i've come to appreciate the quality of the raw seafood they serve. Tbh, i won't eat anything raw anymore unless it's truly fresh and hopefully chemical and preservative free, which is hard to find these days.
I've had their omakase which was amazing - the uni was succulent and sweet! Spicy tuna rolls are usually what I order so the lunch special spicy roll combo is my goto. It's a better deal since 2 of the individual rolls are approximately equivalent in price to the 3 spicy roll combo. If you love crab like i do, the upgraded Kuryu california roll is topped with real delicious crab. Anytime I feel a hankering for raw sushi, this is where i'm going. I do find Kuryu's hours are rather inconvenient and they do book up for dining in (which doesn't bother me as their ambiance is meh)

One of the top quality Sushi in Long Island. The portion was very generous and that alone has been very difficult for me to find in Long Island lately. Value, Portion, Quality are top tier and I will be coming back. Those Uni was the winner!

We have been coming here for over half a year and it’s our go to spot for sushi. It’s the only place outside of Manhattan where we can get fish that doesn’t cause my skin to react. The quality and preparation is ways above the local sushi joints.

Finally found a Quality sushi restaurant in Long Island worthy of being called a Japanese sushi restaurant. Sushi is excellent, service is slow and atmosphere is okay. If you are a sushi snob like me. Kuryu is the place to go authentic sushi.

Very overrated! The food was expensive and I don’t see why. Taste very average and sometimes below average. Service was good but the atmosphere is cold and makes you want to leave right after you finish eating.

The former Sous Chef of the original Nobu downtown has moved KURYU from Brooklyn to Roslyn in Long Island and the quality has only gotten better. The $150 omakase is very filling and I loved the way everything was coursed and the quality was tops. I am sure the smaller sushi sets for $40-55 are also wonderful. Chef Teruo uses fresh local seafood from the adjoining market as well as imported from Japan. This is worth a trip from the city or if you're in Nassau county, conveniently located next to the LIE.

This place had a very unwelcoming environment. Stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes and had to chase down the waitress to ask if they were still taking tables to be told that it was reservation only ( I called 2 hours prior and no answer to the phone) even though there was only 3 people in and there was plenty of open tables and people being served at the bar. Waitress seemed rude and unwelcoming and the sushi looks great but I don’t think the food would be good enough to make up for how poor the service was.

Place was hard to find as signage was not anywhere outside the building. Omakase at $50/person served with a regular miso soup + 8 pieces of normal, non-exceptional sushi. Way too expensive for the quality (both presentation and taste). Do not recommend.
