The mussels were very good and the bread was outstanding ! Service could use a little tune-up.
Avoid this place if you want good food and service for the crazy prices they charge. Food had no flavor and was not good !! the server forget it, She was TERRIBLE ! Nice but doesn’t make up for the fact that she NEVER came over once to ask if we needed water or anything at all. Had to flag her down just to order our food after siting and waiting a long time and even took orders to newcomers before us. got the food with no utensils and waited again just for someone to come over. Had to get up again ask for it and still had to wait after asking. No water, had to ask and wait. Then when it came for check had to wait and go up and ask again. She went over to every other table constantly catering to others. Place was not packed to be treated this way. I also Complained to her and she never said sorry. Better establishments to support than here.

This is going to sound weird but our salads (arugula and garden) were maybe the best we’ve ever had. Our entrees did not disappoint. The cozy dining room and laid back service was just what we were looking for after a busy day.

While my wife were in the area we stopped in for dinner. The atmosphere was nice, our server was very kind and courteous. We ordered several appetizers which came out fairly quickly and everyone of them were fresh and flavorful, especially the steamed muscles in white wine butter and garlic, amazing!
Ordered the roasted rib eye as it was one of their specials for the day, cooked perfectly and very tender.
Highly recommend if your travels take you to this small town, you won't be disappointed!

Started out a little weird. Walked up to the front of the building and the deck was unfinished, a bit of a safety hazard but we walked up close to the door so as not to step where the missing decking boards were. Was supposed to be open at 5pm
but someone told us through the window that they weren't quite ready to open yet and to give them another 15 minutes. (?) We waited until 5:30 to try again. Really cool place on the inside. Server was very pleasant. Our food was really good. I do agree with another reviewer that the bread was a bit burnt but I've had worse.

we have visited a few times during trips to The Roxbury, and it's always a delight. the atmosphere is lovely and the service is warm and inviting. the food is excellent. the menu is a bit limited, but the dishes are clearly prepared with lots of love and attention, so it's well worth a stop if you're staying close by.

We called to make a reservation on Saturday night, the lady who picked up the phone was not very inviting and hung up the phone before we could give the name for the reservation. We arrived at the restaurant at 8.00pm , we were never greeted , we stood there waiting for about 10 minutes while watching a blonde lady walk by us several times without acknowledge us, then finally a dark haired lady came up to us and said sorry for the wait, they actually gave our table to another party who didn't want to sit where they were seated previously, so we were just standing there. Finally after being seated , we ordered our dinner it was five of us at dinner, our food took almost an hour to be served to us, this is a very small restaurant and they were not busy at all, it was one of the worst experiences we ever had, we were staying at The Roxbury Hotel they suggested we try this place for dinner, never again, the blonde lady was very rude, the other lady was very pleasant to us, the food was not great, they burnt my sister-in - laws steak to a char when it finally came out, over priced and bad service, find another restaurant to dine at if you're in town visiting, I'd skip this place, go somewhere where you're treated better and the food is worth it.

New York City Wanna Be:
Thursday night around 7:00 only one other party at a table.
It's pretty dark inside folks, just FYI. Need better lighting.
Our appetizers were very delicious:
Calamari salad and the Brie salad
And now for the disappointment:
The rigatoni ala vodka was VERY mediocre & VERY overpriced.
Not enough sauce, nor was the sauce remotely creamy.
Shrimp Linguine with saffron cream and chives. Waitress said saffron gives it its' color but it looked like regular buttered linguine to me.
The worst part: the bread was terrible! Toasted on the grill and tasted burnt. YUCK. I actually requested that they do not grille it. It was the worst bread honestly...and very disappointing.
Then domestic beer costs $7/bottle. For Real?
We ordered shots and got a rocks glass with about 2 shots in it that was WAY overpriced as well! Nobody asked for that!
I'll eat somewhere else for sure! 2 out of 5 stars.

I’ll start by saying the food was pretty good. Unfortunately the meal was ruined by children running around the restaurant. They bumped into my wife’s chair, and even placed an item on our table. The parents did nothing (which is no fault to the restaurant). The restaurant staff however did not once ask the parents to stop their children. As a teacher I am all for children having fun, but in a restaurant that prices as highly as this one, with an emphasis on a slightly more upscale dining, it would be nice to ensure a more peaceful dining experience. This unfortunately felt like a playroom at McDonalds.

The restaurant is cute & warm, an actual old mill. Our 1st time to Roxbury NY & a last minute trip to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We walked in without a reservation. We were seated within 10 minutes which was very nice but the waitress/host seemed a bit annoyed. To be fair there were only 2 women serving the bar & restaurant and as someone in the service business, it's not easy BUT it's not an excuse just understandable. THE FOOD...it was good but I was disappointed in my Smoked Duck app which had three small thin slices of duck. The apricot vinaigrette was the star of the dish. The scalloped potatoes were good & were not soaked in cream & butter which I liked. Hubby had his go to drink, a Manhattan and it was ok. His entree was Pasta Carbonara, it was very good. All in all 3-stars maybe 4 because the ambiance was romantic or maybe that was us LOL.
