We have come every summer for over 20 years. We love the food and atmosphere. Last night, we were seated in a room I. The back that had a very large and very loud party. We used to have our table changed and we're told one wasn't available. We could not even have a conversation or enjoy ourselves due to the party. We should have left. The restaurant should have put them in a private room so they wouldn't ruin dinner for others.
As always the food was excellent. The service and out waitperson was outstanding! We did notice that the portions seemed smaller than the same meals earlier this spring and summer.
Pretty disappointing, considering how expensive it is. The restaurant is very quaint and the room we sat and had Italian wine bottles hanging from the ceiling, giving it a really nice atmosphere. However, the food is just OK. The pastas are average, and the main courses were Not so good. We were a large party, and we're grateful to have gotten a reservation over Labor Day weekend, but I don't plan on going back there again.
It was great. The only thing was the hostess was not very polite. They should get adults as hostess not children.
We return to this restaurant every year when visiting Sag Harbor. It's a favorite! Except food, service, ambience
Such a great dinner. Delicious Italian food. Warm and efficient service. It was a treat to dine in a reasonably priced restaurant in Sag Harbor where many restaurants are noisy and overpriced!
You can't go wrong at Il Cappicino. Garlic rolls are amazing and the menu is varied so there is something for everyone!! Our ‘go to' place often.
We have been eating here over 30 years. This is old Sag Harbor. We love this place and we are so grateful it is still what it has always been in a land of $50 cheeseburgers.
This old school and long standing Italian restaurant never disappoints. The food is consistently very good ,especially on our favorite dishes. We always have lasagna and linguine with white clam sauce. Their garlic knot rolls are outstanding , having the right garlic to oil to crispy roll ratio. I had 4 last night. It's a friendly casual place with very good food. Go there to enjoy your favorite Italian classic dishes. Eva was our server last night who was a pleasure and handled our table of 5 seamlessly , especially with the restaurant being full for Mothers Day. See you again soon. Robert and Lucille Metz
Il Cappuccino is a Sag Harbor institution but every time we visit the restaurant the hostesses are very un-accommodating and make it feel like they are doing you some kind of favor to get a table.
Last night, a chilly Friday February evening as a party of 3 we arrived at 7.45pm without a reservation and we interrupted both hostesses from scrolling on their social media on their phones to be told that there were no tables available and we would have a wait for at least 25 mins.
We could clearly see that there were open tables and 2 tables left as we waited in the foyer. When I said ok we will go somewhere else, the hostesses said ok have a great night and allowed us to walk out the door.
How does a restaurant with open tables just let its customers walk out the door ?
I wouldnt ordinarily write a review but this is not an isolated incident at Il Capuccino and the terrible hostess service has become a standing joke amongst my friends.
I know the answer is to make a resi and not to expect to be accommodated as a walk in, because this has been my experience multiple times at Il Capuccino I will no longer bother going there again. There are plenty of other great restaurants in Sag Harbor that value their customers.

Very disappointing.
Service was not great and the entrees should not take over 45 minutes! Not to mention no one seemed to care nor apologetic.

Beautiful atmosphere, amazing service, and the food never disappoints! One of my favorite places to dine when I visit back home! Thank you!
Our first time at Il Capuccino and our last time. Seated in the back room by a wall and the kitchen when there were tables available in the main dining room. They refuse our request to change tables. Fried calamari was good but baked clams were mostly a bread stuffing.
Il Capuccino is my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is very comfortable and friendly. The food is excellent.
