Our waiter was excellent And very friendly. Food was delish, well portioned, not overkill. $15 for a side order of two small sausages though?! A nice relaxing delicious dinner overall.
We have been eating at Il Cappuccino for years and always enjoyed the food. Last night must have been an off-night. The pasta bolognese was not rich and thick like it usually is but thin and watery; one of our guests had pasta penne with broccoli rabe and sausage and he said that it was tasteless. It was a very disappointing evening. Further, when I entered the restaurant while my husband was parking and gave the name of the reservation, one hostess commented to the other, "Oh, we just seated the other couple of this party" and she then pointed and said, "In there and down the hall". When I looked confused, instead of showing me to the table, she just pointed and repeated herself. I was a bit taken aback by her lack of service.
We have always enjoyed dining at Il Capuccino but this last visit was not up to par. We stopped in on a rainy Sunday evening after a movie at the Sag Cinema. Besides a few patrons at the bar we were the only table in the restaurant. We were seated promptly and my husband, my son and I began perusing the menu. We had decided on our appetizers and drinks so when the waitress stopped by we attempted to place that order while we decided on our entrees. She refused to take just the drink and appetizer order and said she would come back when we had decided on our full meal. We told her we would prefer to put the drink and appetizer oder in now but again she said "nope I will be back when you have decided on your entrees." Her demeanor was less than gracious. She returned 5 minutes later and we put in our orders. I ordered the Gamberi Shrimp Diavlo but was quite specific about asking her to omit the cheese as I have a dairy allergy. The appetizers came out with no issues and we enjoyed them. When the 3 entrees arrived my dish had the cheese melted over the top. I reminded her of my request and she whisked my entree away without a word or apology. I obviously told my husband and son to eat as I did not want their food to be cold. Unfortunately by the time my dish arrived they had finished their meal. Again, we were the ONLY table in the restaurant and to receive the service described above is simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, there was a radio blaring in the kitchen that carried into the restaurant. Seems like when the restaurant is not busy things get unacceptably lax.
Great place for Italian and seafood. They make their own gluten free bread and have an extensive gluten free menu.
Black Friday may not be the best day to test a new restaurant.. The place was packed, the service was adequate, the food was plentiful, a bit too rich. It was what I would characterize as “standard Italian American fare”.
Antoine Waldo was a fabulous waiter! Bus boy and servers were awesome! Food was terrific and meal was so large I had the leftovers tonight. Great tasting dinners that were substantive! Great night!
We have come every summer for over 20 years. We love the food and atmosphere. Last night, we were seated in a room I. The back that had a very large and very loud party. We used to have our table changed and we're told one wasn't available. We could not even have a conversation or enjoy ourselves due to the party. We should have left. The restaurant should have put them in a private room so they wouldn't ruin dinner for others.
As always the food was excellent. The service and out waitperson was outstanding! We did notice that the portions seemed smaller than the same meals earlier this spring and summer.
Pretty disappointing, considering how expensive it is. The restaurant is very quaint and the room we sat and had Italian wine bottles hanging from the ceiling, giving it a really nice atmosphere. However, the food is just OK. The pastas are average, and the main courses were Not so good. We were a large party, and we're grateful to have gotten a reservation over Labor Day weekend, but I don't plan on going back there again.
It was great. The only thing was the hostess was not very polite. They should get adults as hostess not children.

We return to this restaurant every year when visiting Sag Harbor. It's a favorite! Except food, service, ambience
Such a great dinner. Delicious Italian food. Warm and efficient service. It was a treat to dine in a reasonably priced restaurant in Sag Harbor where many restaurants are noisy and overpriced!
Every time we are in Sag Harbor, this is our go to spot. The food is always fabulous. This time, we took our adult grandchildren, visiting from Arizona, to see what real Italian food is like, usually, our youngest grandchild is with us. Il Cappuccino did not disappoint. Sitting outdoors and people watching added to the experience. We started with baked clams and calamari, which comes with a tartar dip, I prefer marinara sauce and it was no trouble. It arrived in just a minute. The eggplant parm was exceptional, crispy eggplant and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. My granddaughter had lobster ravioli and her boyfriend had frutti di mare, as did my husband! They loved every bite! Service is always top notch. Great wine selection. Highly recommended.
You can't go wrong at Il Cappicino. Garlic rolls are amazing and the menu is varied so there is something for everyone!! Our ‘go to' place often.
We have been eating here over 30 years. This is old Sag Harbor. We love this place and we are so grateful it is still what it has always been in a land of $50 cheeseburgers.
