Where to start?
At 11am sharp, we were ushered in - or perhaps I say ushered out - by a lifeless hostess who seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. We should have left then. Nonetheless, we decided to try it, even though our friend, who had invited us to the Hamptons for the weekend, hadn’t been for 20 years because of a bad memory. As we sat down, our Latino waiter robotically told us: “no special order possible.” We are in Sag Harbor. The Hamptons hosts the Who’s Who of NYC - the pickiest food endroit in the world (behind LA). And this restaurant - which had $40 Eggs Benedict - can’t make any changes? We didn’t take the green-eyed Latino Ken doll waiter’s ‘no’ and requested to speak to the manager. She came out with a callously-friendly New York “we don’t do that, but we’ll do it for you” approach. Which was enough for us to stay. (Though, clearly we should have followed our intuition and gone for custom organic omelette at Provisions.) This non-organic, mechanically-staffed restaurant is perfect for you — if you have no special requests and don’t require excellent service for m unnecessary upcharge. We put in our orders (a simple spinach and cheddar omelette doesn’t seem so hard, no?) When the food was finally served, half of the table’s omelettes were made with the wrong ingredients. Unsurprisingly, we decided to send back one and order the missing ingredients on the side for the other. Politely, we requested our green-blue eyed bot of a waiter to call for the manager again. Now, all of the sudden, she had disappeared into a private party and was “too busy” to speak to us. One of the members of our party had a career in food hospitality and said it’s the most shameful thing someone can do - avoid the problem? They brought out a new omelette and didn’t take care for us in any way… until we called the higher up GM, who answered, showed up, comped the meal… and somewhat set things right. He surely stepped up to the plate. But the lack of service which he had to fill was far too steep for us to ever walk in there again.

A very consistent and wonderful dining experience in Sag Harbor. Assorted Mediterranean French and fusion Cuisine gives a remarkable choice of starters and entrees. I had the octopus followed by duck breast. It was absolutely exquisite.
