Best burger ? I have had in years... it's as if NYCs JG Melons just came to the Hamptons, only bigger and juicer! If you know you know. Awesome cottage fries.

I'm hooked. I highly recommend Sag Harbor Tavern

The experience started out highly disappointing. There was no clear place to check in since we arrived to the patio first. When we went inside, there was an empty wood podium with no book or computer so we ventured into the restaurant. A man came out and asked if we had a reservation and we apologized for not being sure that the empty wood podium was where we should have waited. He was very snarky and asked what we thought the podium was for. He seated us and we looked forward to ordering a pre-dinner cocktail. The martini my husband ordered was very good. The choice of red wines by the glass was appallingly sparse. Two of three were served chilled on a cool October night. The third, a Pinot noir, was $27 a glass. I tasted it and it was on the sweet side. I ended up getting a frigid Cab. Our waiter was sweet but not really up to the standard that was being set by the prices. The food was very good. My husband had a tasty ravioli and I had the squid ink tagliatelle. As we were finishing off our bottle of sparkling water, the same less-than-charming host asked us to move to the bar so they could seat the next party. Had the room been less than half empty, that would have been understandable. But this is late October and the room was more than half empty. They had large tables set up that no one sat at. They should have split them up earlier so that they could seat another few couples. Instead, the host was quite rude. We will not be going back. There are far better options in Sag Harbor.

We weren’t expecting to be in the area because we had friends from out of town visiting us and we decided last minute to go grab a bite to eat. We got there 40 mins before opening and had all our kids in tow. I caught a glimpse of the host setting up and I asked if they were serving lunch today and he disdainfully replied “12”. So I said ok we will wait out here, thank you. About 20 mins later another gentlemen approached me and asked if he could help us, but seemed disgruntled that we were waiting outside. I said we would like to eat lunch and he said ok we open at 12. Well, 12 comes around and there were two couples behind us in line and a third party, a man by himself. The female host literally looked around us and waived the man before us. After they served him, they seated the other couples. We were then asked for our reservation name, which we did not have one and were told they have no availability. The female host shirked us onto the contemptuous and pompous male host whom I had spoken to 40 mins prior to only hear him tell us they had no room because we didn’t have a reservation. I just don’t understand how you can keep people, let alone with kids, waiting for almost an hour and not tell them you are booked. All they had to do was ask if we had a reservation since they were fully booked, to which we would’ve said no and happily have gone to another place without wasting time. Management should replace these incompetent, pretentious, and inconsiderate employees.

We had the BEST meal at Sat Harbor Tavern over the summer. Among the best burgers I’ve eaten, the service, setting and the scene were fantastic.

Excellent food is overshadowed by the rude conduct of the manager/host who should be crowned "King of Arrogance." I thought perhaps it was just me but after reading many others having the same experience I figured I would chime in. If you crave good food with a side of disrespect, this is a must try.

Made a reservation 3 weeks in advance for a table in the dining room and got sat at two bar seats right by the service station by the two swinging doors. Tried to talk to the host about it because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. She did not care. She said they had to move their outdoor reservations indoor and that’s all they had. Seems totally weird to move the person that made the indoor resy to accommodate the people that book tables that clearly state are weather dependent. Her words were “I don’t have a table for you.”

Service would have been a Zero, but the two people working behind the bar did all the right things to turn the restaurant’s mistake around. Kudos to them for doing their best.

Food was solid.

We said goodbye to the host when we were leaving, and she didn’t acknowledge us at all.

absolutely atrocious service. our party waited 10 minutes on line to put our name down. we informed the host that we had 4 people and did not have a reservation. he told us to hold on one moment and proceeded to take a look around for what we thought was a table for us (there were many open tables this night). about 15 more minutes passed before we gently reminded him we were waiting. he looked at us and rudely told us that if we don’t have a reservation that we would not be able to dine in since they are not accepting walk ins. no apology was given. why weren’t we told this information when we first spoke with him? if we were told this in the beginning fine, but to waste our time like that and to be treated with such disrespect was unacceptable. there are many other restaurants in the area to give your money to. i couldn’t recommended this place less. if you care about your reputation and your restaurant, have a talk with your extremely rude host. seems to be a reoccurring issue with him as per previous reviews.

ehhh..not so great or worth all the hype....first of all its an insult to actually charge someone $14 for hard bread...Secondly, a very poor wine by glass list and absurd prices...I mean 425 for a glass come one, we aren't idiots!! OK, so had to try this hamburger that everyone is going crazy about...now mind you, I live in NYC where I enjoy the best burgers ever...So this one was just OK, maybe if they didnt pour half a bottle of pepper into the meat it wouldn't be so bad. Bottom line, not worth the hype and clearly off my go back to list....also, maybe figure out a better cooling system as felt like I was in my grandparents apartment in florida without AC...Oh well better luck next time. Will see who replaces Sag harbor Tavern as not a lasting establishment that's for sure

this is supposed to be the restaurant of the year. the servers are rude. is this on purpose? The food is actually mediocre and while I wanted to love it, absolutely nothing was that impressive. Tuna crudo eh, kale salad over dressed and the kale should have been broken down way more, my $55.00 bronzino was super greasy and while they said it was filet it was hard to get to the fish without going through the salty oily skin. My husband got the fish and chips and we wound up finding a dark black object in his food (he did tell them and they comped the fish) but to say we weren’t turned off was an understatement. I wouldn’t wait on line even for the burger. I mean it’s a burger. The fries were good-but lots of lovely places in area, don’t feel bad if you are waiting at the door and can’t get in.

The red hook tavern is my favorite restaurant in NYC and I am so happy about my experience at SHT. Carol was wonderful and provided great service, the wine list was outstanding and the food was next level. I cannot wait to return; it certainly was a memorable experience, thank you.
