Akira Steak House & Sushi Bar

Hibachi service. So I checked this place out since it is around the corner from where I live. Took my wife and Mom for her 85th birthday dinner. We went early like 3 PM. We don't eat Sushi so have no interest. We had the steak and fish dinners by a very entertaining cook. He was very talented and the food was excellent. I see a few reviews around that don't like this place but in our experience here... it was 5 stars and yes we will go again. To top it off, after we were done eating, they presented Mom with Ice cream and a candle for her birthday. They must have overheard us saying happy birthday to her. We did not request it. Free and a very nice gesture by them.

This is a great place for habachi and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. I love how centrally located this is too, it's on my home from work for take out, or not far from my house to go out for a nice meal! My favrotie part is that on nights I am craving habachi but not the whole show... they will serve me the habachi meal right at a regular sit down table! I can have a private dining experience with my boyfriend and still eat the delicious food!

Beware of dishonest bar practices -- While the food is very good here, I witnessed something very dishonest. While eating lunch today, I watched the hostess pour cheap jug vodka from a plastic bottle right into a bottle of Grey Goose. She then placed it back on the bar next to the other "top shelf" liquor. Not cool. I won't eat there again because of this, and I strongly discourage patrons from ordering a "premium cocktail".

This was my first time at a place like this. The chef catered his show to a little girl at the table. Staff was courteous, but I wouldn't go so far as to say friendly. Food was good, but not outstanding.

Not a fancy place but the food is always excellent. We love the sushi Pizza. The crispy red snapper is excellent and so is the pineapple fried rice!

Absolutely horrendous place to order from over the phone. They needed me to repeat my order 5 times, read the order back to me twice, still managed to get my order wrong. I called in to have the order corrected and was hung up on twice, the third call back they ignored my number. I called from a different number and they answered and said they would send someone with my corrected order..45 minutes later and no food yet. So I call again and they offered a credit (which I declined because I wanted the food I paid for) they once again insisted they would send the order back. 5 minutes later they called me back and hung up and is now ignoring my calls. Never received the correct order. Absolutely ridiculous!

would not recommend. the customer service was absolutely and disrespectful. I felt awkward for simply making an awkward.Better off getting pizza.

Overcooked rice is pretty inexcusable. The fish is fresh enough but overall very forgettable.

Ordered the filet mignon hibachi meal, but from a table instead of sitting at the hibachi. So my meal was made in the kitchen instead of the hibachi in front of me. They took advantage of this fact, that I couldn't see my food, and gave me a cheaper cut of steak instead of filet mignon. It was also over cooked. Also, the hibachi rice was very plain and tasteless. It looked like rice that they just put a little soy sauce on and threw in a few carrots. Not true hibachi rice like other restaurants with the egg, maybe corn, onions, etc. It was very bland and boring. The soup was good. The salad was okay, but the dressing didn't seem very fresh. All in all, it wasn't terrible, but you can definitely do better elsewhere (i.e. Gasho of Japan).

The food was ok, nothing special. I didn't like the atmosphere. It didn't seem upbeat like some other Hibachi places.

This place is not worth the hassle. Before coming in to order I checked the online menu to check prices on their website. I was charged $10 more than what I should have. When I looked at the receipt they charged $0.50 more per roll and added a $7 fee to add cucumber. The older woman who rang me up immediately walked away, so I had to call someone else over. Both of them said the online prices were different, and I had to order online to get those prices. The menu online said the roll would cost $3.50, but they tried to charge $4 a roll plus a $7 fee. Why would I pay $5 for a cucumber avocado roll if that's what they charge for cucumber shrimp? They offered to give a store credit, but they wanted to just write my name and number on a piece of scrap paper. I didn't leave after being given my food and the younger woman that tried helping told a manager about the issue; he told both women to refund me the amount. When she tried to hand me back $7 in cash the older one put the money back in the register and said it needed to go on my card or a store credit. I was really excited to get sushi, but this ruined it.

I waited over an hour for my food, when I tried to ask a waiter what was going on they avoided eyecontact and when I got made my order i made sure to say im allergic to shrimp twice which they confirmed "no shrimp" and when I got my order sitting right on top is the shrimp, thr people next to me also had similar problems

Picked up a very big detailed order and honestly assumed at least one thing would be wrong because it was just so much but I was pleased to check all the food and it was exactly as we ordered! Great food, not well known but should be!
