I recently stopped by Ancient Ginger in St. James for their General Tso's Chicken lunch special, complete with pork fried rice and wonton soup, and it was an absolute standout meal!
The General Tso's Chicken was perfection – tender, juicy pieces of chicken coated in a crispy batter that held up beautifully, tossed in a bold, tangy sauce with just the right kick of heat from the hot peppers. It delivered that ideal balance of sweet, spicy, and savory without being overwhelming.
The pork fried rice was equally impressive: fluffy, flavorful grains packed with generous bits of pork, fresh vegetables, and an outstanding depth of taste that elevated the whole dish. And the wonton soup was a comforting starter – light broth with plump, well-seasoned wontons.
Everything felt fresh, high-quality, and thoughtfully prepared. Ancient Ginger nails classic Chinese comfort food with skill and consistency. This lunch special is a fantastic value and a perfect quick bite. Highly recommend – I'll definitely be back soon!

I'm a vegetarian, and they have a lot of vegan options. They have General Tso's tofu, Sichuan tofu, and . The sauce is rich and spicy, the spice level is just right, the prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and the waiters are friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese food! Five stars!

Absolutely inedible! Ordered boneless spare ribs. The meat was like rubber. The egg roll was dripping in oil. Ill never eat here again

I had a really disappointing experience with this place. I placed a delivery order and was misled about the prices what I was charged did not match what was advertised. I tried to order a combo to save money, but they wouldn’t let me and lied about having it on menu, which forced me to spend more than I intended. On top of that, the staff was extremely rude throughout the process. They pressured me to tip and reacted unprofessionally when I didn’t tip as much as they expected. For a place that’s supposed to offer good service, this was unacceptable. I will not be ordering from here again and do not recommend this business to others.Save your money

My favorite Chinese restaurant when I go back to visit Long Island. Best Orange 🍊 Beef anywhere! Also great crispy noodles and duck sauce. Reliable, delicious food, reasonably priced.

We had a combo dinner and veggie dumplings and everything was very good. The dumplings are made in house and the filling was so fresh! Highly recommend.

We often go to this restaurant, and our family likes it very much. Owner Jun always gives my children different candies.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Smith Town!!! I have been buying Chinese food from them for 13 years, from when I was a kid to a young adult. I always have general Tso chicken over rice and wonton soup.
