We decided to try a new place and had dinner here last night. Everything from the atmosphere to the food to the service was top notch! Our server Corinne was extremely friendly and was highly knowledgeable of everything on the menu. She went above and beyond by happily accommodating our ingredient substitutions making sure our meal was exactly to our liking without any hesitation. The Persian cuisine was out of this world! If I could rate it 10 stars I would!! Compliments the owner and chef Ray!!
It was well worth the half hour drive to try this place out. We will be back!!!

A hidden St James gem! We finally got there and it was truly worth the wait. The food is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is amazing too.
We will definitely be back to try other menu options. This time I had the chicken madeira and it was delicious.
You will love it!!!

Delicious food with tons of choices for Persian or American palates. BYOB and they are happy to open and pour. Loved the decor- inside or out!! Great waitstaff!!!

The pan-seared salmon came in with a peppercorn coating so good …crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. The citrus spinach salad somehow managed to taste warm without actually being hot, like a hug. The jeweled rice? Forget comfort food this is emotional support rice.
Pro tip: BYOB if you want wine with your meal. They’re chill about it, so you can pair your $12 bottle with food that tastes like it belongs in a magazine. Cozy ambiance right in the heart of St. James makes it feel like your fancy but chill neighborhood secret.

Bright and quiet enough to speak with anyone else at the table. Minimal decor but the touches present make it feel nice and airy. Table needed fixing as it’s too jostled from side to side when lightly pressing down on it.
Sofa and juice only unless you bring your own bottle of wine.
The small pieces of complimentary flatbread were a delightful savory touch. Eggplant spread was delicious but a bit oily so be forewarned. Mint could have been a bit stronger. Pita bread was well season and toasty. Greatly enjoyed the zereshk polo! Every aspect was packed with flavor from sweet to savory to refreshing, especially the rice! Apple blossom for dessert was warm and gooey without being overly sweet. The tart was cooked to perfection.

A Hidden Gem in St. James – Persian Perfection!
My girlfriend and I recently visited Basil Cafe, and it instantly became one of our favorite date night spots. This cozy, quaint Persian restaurant is BYOB, so we brought a couple of High Noons to keep things light and fun.
We kicked off the night with the Spicy Chicken Spinach Flatbread — highly recommend. It’s the perfect appetizer for two, just enough to get your taste buds dancing without spoiling your appetite.
For our main course, we ordered the Mixed Koobideh and the NY Strip, both grilled to perfection and packed with flavor. But the real star of the show? The Basmati rice. Fluffy, fragrant, and absolutely essential, don’t skip it.
The service was warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. While there's only street parking, it’s a small price to pay for such a delightful experience.
All in all, Basil Cafe delivers big on flavor, hospitality, and charm. We’ll absolutely be back.

Extremely disappointed! Small portions. Not at all tasty. Very overpriced. I’ve had much better Persian cuisine in Huntington. I won’t be returning. The staff was friendly but, that’s the only good thing I can say.
