My wife and I attended a wine tasting dinner event at Villa Sorrento and I have to say it was absolutely superb. The owner Sal and his wife were present and oversaw the entire event. Made us feel very welcome. The wine choices were spectacular and the dinner was just as spectacular. Great waiter staff, great chef and atmosphere. Highly recommend this family operated restaurant. Five stars across-the-board

My wife and I are new to Smithtown and have been trying all of the restaurants in the vicinity. Well, last night was Villa Sorrento in St. James. We were the only ones in the restaurant(5:15 PM) and a few guys at the bar. Greeted by unnamed waiter and seated. Looked over menu and specials and ordered away. Bottle of house red was decent. I had baked clams and marinated skirt steak, which were both good. My wife had the filet mignon spring rolls which were delicious and then she had the Chilean sea bass. Decent, but piled high with mango. Dessert was the fudge sundae which can't go wrong:). Overall OK. The rub was we were never checked on or asked how everything was. Owner never stopped by, even though he was at the bar with a few friends. We mentioned to the waiter that we just moved out here and it was our first time trying the restaurant. I thought it would have been nice/smart for the owner to take 5 mins to welcome us and thank us for stopping in. That goes a long way! On to the next. Unsure if we would return.

This review is for their catering:Our family hired them to be our caterers for our grandmothers 90th birthday party. Several weeks leading up to the event the caterers were repeatedly asked to make the salmon gluten free. I have celiac disease, so I need to eat a very strict gluten free diet, without any cross contamination of any kind. I am also a pescatarian so the fish was my only option for the meal. My mother in law promised me that I would have something to eat at the birthday party but unfortunately her promise to me was broken by the caterers. Even after repeated and in-advance notice to keep the salmon gluten free the caterers decided to put it on a bed of pasta. I was left with no meal. I ended up having to order delivery!!! Staff either doesn't listen to customers or doesn't know what gluten is. Both of which are concerning!! We will not be hiring them ever again.Additionally, aside from the gluten free issue. I witnessed one of the serving staff cough into her gloved hand and then proceeded to serve cake. I also was disappointed in how much “single use” plastic was used. The plates were all plastic, even plastic mugs for hot coffee, which is very off putting.

Was there for a 50th surprise bday party. Had the back room. Wait staff was great, very attentive! Food kept coming and coming....and it was all so delicious!!Highly recommend for a gathering or just a great dinner for two!

I catered my daughter shower yesterday, Sal was terrific! The food was even better! It was the best chicken franchise I’ve ever had, so tender you could cut it with a fork. The entire party raved about the food. From the hot food to the sandwiches to the ease of dealing with him. I give it a 10 out of 10! I can’t wait to try the restaurant. He came highly recommended and now I see why.

We had a wonderful dining experience this evening at Villa Sorrento! Our waiter, Nick provided exceptional service and was very attentive during our meal! The food was delicious and prepared exactly how we ordered it. Wine bottle specials under $45 - we had a nice bottle of Italian Rosso. My only suggestion would be that they play Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin type music in the dining room instead of Kansas and other heavy metal rock .... We will be back!

Had my son's rehearsal dinner here on 2/1/2024. The food and service was impeccable. Judy was so helpful, answered all questions and everything went smoothly. All of our guests enjoyed their dinner and raved about it at the wedding. Victor our waiter was amazing! There wasn't an empty glass or empty plate on the table. Thank you to all who made our experience so memorable ? We will see you all again soon.
