El Mexicano Restaurant

I ordered some camarones a la Diabla, the sauce tasted like canned tomatoes, with a bit of black peppers served with 4 frozen plastic shrimps. Literally 4 spoons of rice and 4 spoons of beans topped with cheese and didn't even served avocado like an authentic Camarones a la Diabla Plates... the tortilla chips weren't even fresh and the sauce with it tasted like can sauces... my wife asked for green chilaquiles and was regular chilaquiles without sauce.

Horrible everything need a shot of tequila to wash my mouth!...

Bright colorful decor. Authentic food, good variety served by friendly staff.
They have indoor and outdoor seating and they offered a complimentary dessert. The prices were reasonable.

7/12/25 @ 2:30pm Still one of the best places to eat in Saratoga. And they're having a 16th birthday on July 16 from 6-10 so another reason to go and celebrate the restaurant. Has it really been around for 16 years?!?! Wow, Congrats!!! 🥳

6/12/21 @ 1:45pm My Google maps tells me I haven't been here since Nov. 2019 which sounds about right since a pandemic hit us shortly after. I finally braved sitting in a restaurant again today and I am HAPPY I did. This place hasn't changed. I'm so glad they survived the pandemic because they are still as good as ever. Great choice for an authentic meal.

Always a place I recommend to hungry people. My mom and I went for lunch one day and I was surprised that it was almost the same amount of food as dinner for half the cost so since they open at 11am and you're strapped for cash, try lunch. The decor is festive and the food is good, but the service...FANTASTIC!!

Literally one of the best dining experiences I've ever had! From start to finish we had incredible service, amazing food and drinks! We cant stop raving about our meal here! 10/10 we will be back again!!

I realized El Mexicano was not the real thing when the salsa was not home made, not fresh, and tasted like something that not even a Denny's would serve. So when I asked for salsa verde, the server returned with a bottle of El Yucateco hot sauce. Fail.
The combination chicken/beef/pork entree was over-salty and the three meats tasted the same.
If you want mexican food that tastes like it was made and served in a high school cafeteria, then this place is for you. If not, "run for the border" at the Taco Bell drive through.

Horrible customer service. Today we ordered using doordash at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The restaurant wasn't due to open until 11:00 a.m. so we got our order in before they even opened.

It was supposed to be ready by 11:20 a.m. and we showed up at 11:30 to pick it up and we're told it wasn't done.

At that point I was like can have it here and I was told that we could not.

There was literally One customer in the whole place the food ordered had not been packed up because it wasn't even done yet and for whatever reason they were unwilling to allow us to have our meal at the restaurant where they could have earned a tip in addition.

When I attempted to understand why this was happening I was glared with no response so I asked the guy if he was going to answer & he told me he "doesn't speak English", this was despite the fact that we had the whole conversation in English prior to this.

I have no idea what was going on in that place today or why they would turn a customer away but they will not get our business again.

I didn't know what to expect from a Mexican food in a gas station. It was recommended while out and about. The food was okay. It lacked some seasoning.
