The service was exceptionally slow. Not sure if it was understaffed or just slow. It was not as crowded as I have seen it previously so I don't know why it was so slow. Food is OK at best. Would like to see a more upscale menu from The Porch.
Visiting Saratoga has always been a bucket list item for us. We were traveling from California. I would highly recommend reserving a table in the Clubhouse . The track is amazing and historic. The food and beverage are very good. You have the ability to wander all over the track and return to your table. There are also a Woodford Reserve Bar in the Clubhouse where you can get your favorite Bourbon Drink or your waitress will bring it to your table. We started with a bottle of Chandon Champagne and then moved to Woodford Old Fashions. The Burrata on toast with tomato jam was a perfect compliment to the champagne. They had several lobster dishes on the menu and Lynn asked if they did a lobster roll. Our waitress said it wasn't on the menu but they could make it for her. They did and it was amazing. Everyone at the track was so friendly and helpful you felt like family. Make plans to go to Saratoga next summer. Go to morning workout, take the backstretch tour, and the historic tour of the track, you will be so glad you made the trip. "You can thank me now, or you can thank me later."
Food was adequate but better options elsewhere on the grounds. Great place to watch the horses and see the race. Easy access to restrooms. Betting windows were upstairs and not as convenient. Did not have an account which might have made betting at the table possible but it was hard to see the screen at the table due to the lighting. Nearby big tv was helpful. Water was always available and seats were reasonably comfortable. Able to see the horses approach the track and we were near the finish line. Would do it again. A relaxed day.
Pro: Enjoyable day. Friendly service. Decent food. Exciting horse racing. Good way to spend an afternoon with friends or family members. Con: Somewhat expensive of late. Removed $25 per person food/drink cost and replaced it with an upfront table cost per person. Cost of food remains moderately expensive in light of the change.
New menu for 2018 has great choices! Disappointed appetizer came out with lunch. Presentation of appetizer was not what I have come to expect from the Turf Terrace. Waiter had no personality and seemed to be annoyed the entire time we were there. Thankfully there were other very helpful and pleasant servers willing to help. The walls need a serious scraping and paint job, the chairs need some updating as well.
Good day! I had a pleasant experience dining at the Turf Terrace, Saratoga Racecourse on Aug 24th, but I was a little disappointed with the location of where the hostess seated us. When I made my reservation with open table(well in advance of 8/24), I requested to have a table on the first or 2nd level(lower levels) in the Terrace; I was not seated on either of these levels. In the future, I anticipate that Open Table staff will be able to assist in securing my preferred location at the Turf Terrace. Sincerely, Joann
Was there for the afternoon to watch the races at Saratoga. My only complaint is that there were a lot of bees flying around the tables all afternoon long and it made it difficult to enjoy your food.
THE PLACE NEEDS A TOTAL FACELIFT. EVERYTHING IS DIRTY: WALLS, HANDRAILS (FILTHY); MEN'S ROOM. LEVEL THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF BETTING WINDOWS! A GOOD COAT OF PAINT WOULD SURELY IMPROVE THE PLACE! GAD
Turf Terrace is very good for ambiance and most times service. The food runs from fair to good. The prices in 2018 were raised without warning and not clearly spelled out. After 10-20 years of visiting the track, this year was totally messed up with regard to cost and reservations. Three out of four dates were incorrect and the Open Table system was useless, unresponsive and screwed up what had been an error free system in prior years. NYRA needs to fix the mess they created with Open Table. Ed Klein
No better way to enjoy a day of horse racing than lunching at the Turf Terrace. Service excellent, food and beverages top notch and best view of Race Track possible. Betting at table huge plus! We will definitely return.

Have experienced Turf Terrace several times. A bit more roomy than the Patio. Very good view of track, and helpful viewing monitors on tables. Food is average and pricey, expected for this venue. The table is yours for the full day at the track, and you can still walk around and experience all of what Saratoga Race Course offers. We had requested a table in Sect. A on the rail for two days, in our original reservation back in April. We were accommodated on Sunday, but were disappointed on Monday, when we were seated in a different Section. (Even after going back to desk on Sunday, and requesting the same or similar table for Monday) We realize that everyone wants the best seat, but the seats were available for over an hour after we were seated, so they were obviously "saved", and not a first come, first serve basis.
I and my friends had never been to this part of Clubhouse The view was spectacular Food great We could talk and enjoy races Jody was our waitresses to care of all our needs We will go again Prices were fair Enjoyed every minute We were right over finish line Thank You
i made 6 week advance reservations. we were shown 4 different tables (after they said the first time that they had absolutey nowhere else to seat us) and each was worse than the first. we could not even see the track, we were smushed into 14 inches of space between back-to-back tables (not chairs) and we were told that all the empty tables were reserved specifically. it was really amazing that folks actually enjoyed sitting there at all.
Service was excellent as usual. Staff works very hard to make things right. Food was horrendous! Always gononce every meet since you cannot best the ambience/view. Food previously was tolerable even though expensive....after all one is paying for the seat and the view. But this year, the food was bad. Got lobster grilled cheese and for $28 thought it would be nice soft grilled sour dough bread oozing with melted cheese and .....menu says a quarter pound of lobster meat. It was the saddest grilled cheese I have ever seen....even a $1 home made one. Bread was thin sliced, tasted stale, not buttered to grill, dry with one and I do mean one thin slice of cheese that didn't even cover the bread. There was some lobster - but did not seem like a quarter pound. Lobster that was there was tender and tasty. DO NOT ORDER THIS SANDWICH! The chips were excellent, cupcakes for dessert were decent. Will find some other way/place to dine at the track in the future.
We sat on the rail and it was positively amazing. Service was outstanding. Miriam was our Waitess and Christian was her assistant. We've been coming to the track for years and this was our best experience ever.
