Our dining experience was fantastic from start to finish. The waitress was helpful and helped us make great decisions. It was early October ,we were dining outside, delicious food, with a terrific view.

Waitress was lovely and outside patio was lovely but food was not good and expensive for what it was. Would not eat there again. Breakfast buffet all the hot food was cold as well.

The Gideon Putnam Hotel and its setting are gorgeous. We sat outside: the weather was balmy. We grabbed some cushions from the couches on the patio, as the metal chairs were very uncomfortable. But we were happy. SO far the evening was perfect. We ordered simple food, knowing already that the chef there is not gifted. Our club sandwiches, however, were terrible—mostly constructed of thick slices of un-toasted , stale, white bread, with no mayo or dressing of any kind. And very little between the slices. Our waitress saw our plates with mountains of bread , the stark slices of turkey and bits of crumbled bacon taking up a tiny fraction of the space: To her credit, she comped them. Our companions had ordered Caesar salads which were more or less acceptable. This splendid hotel needs to do something drastic about their restaurant. Years ago the elaborate Sunday brunch buffet was exceptional; I wonder if it still is. I don't think we will try it any time soon, however.

Dinner was over cooked. Wasn't aware of breakfast being only buffet for the weekend. Not sure if it was the manager standing at the end of the bar on Friday evening 9/26, but he looked angry leaning on the bar staring at people. The hotel and grounds are beautiful! I will definitely go back!

Wonderful meal and environment! Service was on the slow side but it was nice not to be rushed.

Inconsistent with generous use of salt in the cooking. I suggest keeping it simple. Beautiful and soothing views from outdoor patio.

For being located in the middle of the Spa State Park, our experience was a complete and total disappointment. The menu was bleak and unjustly overpriced, the ambiance needs a major refresh - and SO loud, and the service was just ok, as it started out strong and then never saw our server again once she brought our meals. Others took care of clearing and bringing the check, though we had to flag someone down after 15 mins of waiting to run the card.

The service was very slow, waitress was not very good, I think she had too many tables - never checked on us to to how dinner was. My friend had the cod dish, it was over cooked and very dried - she told the waitress but nothing was done. The broccoli soup I had was just ok - not worth $10. Lobster wedge salad was good. Doubt I will return any time soon.

We were very happy with our dinner on our 2 recent occasions that we visited. The staff is very friendly and they ALL work together which is very impressive. The Manager also helps the staff. We had Anna as our server and Nia(?) also stepped in to assist us a few times. The only drawback is that the inside dining room gets very noisy, however, I do not think that there is any solution to that as it was very busy both times we were there.

This is a lovely hotel in a magical setting. However, since the current owners took over several years ago, the food has been abysmal. Review after review says the same thing. However, we decided to try the restaurant again in the hopes that the situation had improved. Food was terrible, almost inedible. In addition, more tables have been squeezed into the space, making the noise level intolerable. So sad. Under the previous owners, a dinner here before attending a concert at SPAC was a delight. No longer. We will not be back.

Entire experience was poor. Pricing, service, quality not as expected for a resort. this is not a resort in any way.

Ann, our waitress, was wonderful! Helped us personalize our meal choices! It was beautiful outside on the patio.

Lovely outside seating. Friendly and excellent attentive service. Buffet breakfast with assorted pastries, hot and cold breakfast items. Food was delicious. It was a beautiful summer Sunday morning.

The food in the restaurant is terrible. The service is terrible. The entire experience is a must miss. I was here ten years ago and was very pleased. It has gone downhill now. Sorry we stayed here.

My friends and I planned a nice early dinner at Putnam's prior to an evening at SPAC to insure we would have plenty of time prior to the performance to visit and relax. We were seated for dinner by 5:15.The service was so slow we barely made the performance. I am not blaming our server. She apparently had too many tables to service, but she knew we were going to the orchestra, in fact she asked us. We practically had to tackle her for the check. Because if this experience I would not recommend a dinner before a SPAC performance.
