I enjoyed every meal I purchased at Canteen. Yes, it’s fast food. Yes, it’s pricey. But you’re on an island… duh. Overall, Canteen is a consistent and reliable which is what you need in a remote destination like FIP.
There aren’t many places to relatively quickly grab food in Fire Island, so it’s pretty hard to avoid Canteen. The food is hit or miss yet expensive for what you get. I did however find the burger to be good. The breakfast menu is limited yet the breakfast burrito was shockingly bland. Food aside, it’s convenient and centrally located. Perfect for a bite after day drinking by the pool or the beach.
Wonderful place to grab breakfast or lunch right on water. Friendly staff. Simple menu. Great to eat outside on-site, grab something to-go for beach or coffee/snack before taking ferry back home. Commercial strip has great convenient shops next to each other. Bathing suit/beachwear shop, grocery store, floral shop, wine/liquor store. Everything you need all on beautiful convenient strip. Also a hair salon/barber shop and hotel.
