I had a lovely intimate lunch with the owner preparing me a delicious omelette and a tomato salad. Highly recommend giving Richard free rein to prepare you “something” around your preferences and dietary restrictions if it’s slow. Ask him about his life and talk to him about world events.

My 2nd time stopping here at this cozy place in Schenectady off-hours for a quiet peaceful meal... the gentleman who took care of us was once again friendly and accommodating... he pretty much runs the show himself, so this is a place where patience is rewarded, to be sure. The omelette I had today is 10x tastier than any I can get in the city. I also don't know why we bring books of our own when his shelves are filled with fascinating stuff to flip through, not to mention games too. I look forward to another visit next chance I get.

We had a delicious lunch at The Moon and River Cafe today. Reubens , Thai fries, beet salad and blueberry pie all vegan and kindly prepared and served by Richard as always. We have been there several times and will definitely be back !

Nice little spot. Met a young man in college at scc who is making his path in the music industry. He is a very intelligent young black man and i am very proud of him. He played 2 song's on the piano for us and he did very well.

This café is cute, charming and quirky. It had some unusual menu items such as Linden tea, which I really enjoyed. The owner is super friendly and very welcoming. I was just visiting, but I also saw signs up for music on certain nights of the week, and I imagine it would be a cool place in the evening.

I don't really have anything bad to say but it's basic. For $10.80 I got a cup of coffee with spices in it and a smallish salad with beets in it. I asked for lime & cilantro as the 'dressing' which was an option, and it was covered in EVOO as well, which was a bit disappointing. Eclectic cafe and large menu selection which I don't see how he has it all on hand in that little shop, but he must.

Nice omelet. If you are vegan, you must try his extensive menu.

Stopped by for a late lunch and had the tempeh reuben. It was excellent. There are loads of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu and the service was as friendly as it gets. Atmosphere has a charm that reminds me of visiting a friends apartment and there was great art by local artist on the walls. I really enjoyed my lunch and will be backVegetarian options: So many to choose from!

We had a most memorable meal at Moon and River Cafe. The menu is eclectic, wide ranging and utterly mouth-watering. I was sad that I had only 1 day in Schenectady and could only sample a small portion of the exhaustive menu. Each of my party of four had a different dish and everything was excellent. The ambience of the restaurant was terrific. It was quirky and charming at once.

Oh, we so wanted to love this place! The extensive vegan menu was enticing, but as soon as we set foot in the door we should have turned around and left. We read great reviews so we thought the food must be amazing. Positives: the owner/cook was very nice. Negatives: the cafe was cluttered, in a dirty, hoarder way. The food we had was not fresh or homemade- microwaved or reheated. My vegan fish was two pieces, silver dollar size or smaller, and seven soggy waffle fries. My husbands four crab cakes were the size of quarters or smaller. We don't need a lot of food, but the portions were ridiculously small. We were too stunned to even say anything and paid in cash and left. I'm sure the music is good, but unfortunately the food isn't.

Good food with different vegan options. The portions are pretty small though.
