Tacos&Margaritas Cantina is an authentic, family-owned taqueria in a great location on Upper Union St. in Schenectady. The restaurant is beautiful with a great vibe and an open kitchen concept, so you can see your food being made from start to finish. Everything is made in-house, from fresh tortillas down to the margarita sour mix. The food is delicious, outstanding, fresh and flavourful. Specific meals mentioned include Birria chimichangas with the Consume, Shrimps cooked with Onions and Garlic, Birria fires, tacos, quesadilla, guacamole, rice and beans, and the coconut margarita. The Birria fires were out of this world, and the portion size was enough to get full and still have leftovers. The service is excellent and terrific, and the staff is kind, attentive, sweet and friendly. The owner is so nice and connects with his customers. The margaritas were made perfectly. The restaurant has transitioned into a full-service, sit down vibe. One suggestion would be to offer regular sized table and chairs alongside the high top table/chair to accommodate the elderly and disabled and those who prefer regular height seating.
