My girlfriend and I were loyal customers for over 10 years. About a week before New Years Day, Mario's sold my girlfriend's parents a $100 gift card that they bought her for a holiday gift. 1 week later, Mario's closed without warning and never reopened. Now, we were unable to use the gift card. We tried calling Mario's, but the phone just rings. We then tried emailing Mario's but never received a reply. Finally, we tried calling Stony Brook Pizza in Stony Brook, NY, as it is owned by the same owners, but they would not make good on the gift card. We feel cheated. I implore the owners to read this and make good on the gift card. I'm not asking for money back, but something should be done to help your reputation by reaching out to those who were so loyal to you over the years.

This place has been terrible ever since the change in ownership. It’s borderline a scam considering they kept all the same branding. How did you guys mess up this badly? Go back to the previous owner and buy out his recipes as well.Appreciate the good things before they are gone people, and do not support this business.

WORST NEW YEAR’S EVER!Decided to have dinner at Mario’s (4 adults 1 child) before watching the balldrop with friends at home.Arrived for a 10pm reservation made through Open Table, requesting a seating in the bar area. We were told that all tables in the bar area were reserved, although NO ONE was in there during the entire almost 2 hours that we were in the practically empty dining room. After waiting for almost a half hour for our drinks to arrive, our server accidentally dumped her tray of drinks into our laps and our salads. We had to move to another table and wait for another 20 minutes for new drinks to arrive before they finally took our food order. The New Year’s menu was rather sparse, offering only 3 appetizers and 4 entree choices. Worse yet, the “baked clam” app was no longer available, leaving only calamari or mozzarella sticks to choose from (neither of which I care to eat). But the most disappointing was when we were told that everyone’s preference of the “surf & turf” entree was also no longer offered, leaving only a choice of chicken parm w/ day-old penne, overcooked salmon or eggplant rollatini (with the same day-old penne). Our 3 year old ordered “chicken fingers” that were delivered LAST and at a scalding temperature, which ended up un-eaten (like most of our food this evening). The “Red Sangria” specialty drink that featured Brandy but had nothing better than fruit juice. And with all the waiting we did for our food to arrive, the wifi was poor (to be kind). Our plea (because it was 11:35 on New Year’s Eve) to wrap the canoli deserts and bring the check quickly was obviously met with disinterest as we had to present ourselves to the manager (at 11:50) with our coats on, begging for our $300 bill. The Manager was clueless as to any of our issues (including the cocktail bath) despite their only having 2 other tables that evening.I used to love Mario’s and was expecting an entirely differentexperience, not this New Year’s Nightmare. Goodbye Mario’s.

Food was your standard Italian fare, which is exactly what we were looking for. Biggest knock was the fact that the menu wasn't available to us. Apparently they had decided to do a limited pre-fixe menu for the holiday but we were not aware of this.

I live 45 minutes away & went here because my friend lives near by & picked Mario's. We ordered mini rice balls for the appetizer, and they brought out the regular size ones. The rice balls were frozen in the middle. When clearing the appetizers, the busboy spilled the entire cup of cocktail sauce on my friends lap. The main course I ordered was flounder français, and the first bite of the fish tasted like the ocean. I will say the waitress was very accommodating, professional, and pleasant. The manager did compensate us by taking something off the bill, but I think it was just a series of unfortunate events, and I won't return.

The only reason why I even put stars on this place is because I had no choice. I was searching for a place open on Christmas Day for dinner since we had just moved literally two days before and didn't have time to prepare anything for the holidays. Mario's came up as open on Christmas Day taking reservations. A few of the earlier times said booked, so I made reservations for 7PM. We drove all the way over there, which is not close by the way. And it's closed! I don't understand how a restaurant does not update their holiday schedule and allow reservations to be booked on a day that they're closed. I'm sure I'm not the only person that this happened to! We had to scramble to find another place last minute. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional.

We made reservations for Christmas Day that were confirmed. When we drove up to the restaurant they were closed. I absolutely understand being closed on Christmas, but, don't take my reservations, confirm it and not accommodate us. We should have at least called me

Disappointed with this visit to Mario's. My family and I have been going here for years but the last 2 visits have not been great. First of all did not know there was going to be a special Xmas eve menu. Second all of our meals tasted microwaved not fresh. When the bill is close to $300 for 4 people i expect better

If you appreciate dining in a restaurant that hasn't been updated safely since 1970's, then this is your place. The interior is old dark dirty carpet, old tattered booths, dimly lite rooms and gaudy decor and that is just stating the obvious. My wife and I thought we would try a different place to dine at and boy did we make a mistake. First they brought some bread which could have doubled as light colored hockey pucks. Then we had a Ceasar salad which wasn't bad except that some of the leaves were brown. My wife had chicken Francese which she claimed was ok, but not great. I had the veal piccata with what was supposed to be sauté broccoli. I really can't tell how the broccoli was prepared, but if it was sauté with garlic, there shouldn't have been a pool of water on the plate. Now to the veal. The veal was fairly tender and the artichokes were fine. The issue that destroyed this dish, was that the piccata sauce was nothing more than flower and very little flavor and clung to the veal like lumpy gravy. Tonight we would have been better off have dinner at a local pizza shop. I normally do not like to bash a business but sometimes you have to let people know. That was our first and last time there.

Great happy hour! Justin made a perfect Negroni. Grilled shrimp app and bruschetta was yummy!

Well, our server was nice. That's about it. There were about 10 customers in the restaurant. The bartender was completely disinterested in working. We watched her take the order for our drinks from the server. She started making them and then went on to do about ten other things, including talking to a couple for about 10 minutes. We finally got our drinks after over twenty minutes. One of our martinis was normalish, the other one was about a shot. The food was mediocre. I could do better at home. Our second drink was okay, but took almost as long. We'll definitely not be coming back.

Very slow service, food was just okay. Stuffed shells were dry and tasted like a frozen entree. My husband had the shrimp, he was unimpressed. Bright note our grandson loved his personal pizza.
