We were looking for a restaurant that was close to a community theatre event we were attending, and decided to try 901 Wood Burning Kitchen and Bar. What a pleasant surprise! The food and service were really top notch! And the menu supported many different dietary requirements from vegetarian to gluten free. They can accommodate large parties, but its also great if you want to stop by for a seat at their spacious bar and have a drink and appetizers or a pizza. And I also want to mention we had I think the best gluten free dessert I've ever had. It was delicious! We'll definitely be back! Thanks again for the great service!Vegetarian options: There were many vegetarian options on the menu from salads, pizzas and entrees.Dietary restrictions: They also had gluten free options available!

I joined a friend yesterday at Novecentouno for an early dinner and a drink. I had been there on several occasions and have always found the service to be lackluster, however, it never impeded me from going back. Yesterday changed that. My friend and I each ordered a salad and one drink. I ordered the Advocate. Initially I told my friend it tasted more like grapefruit juice with lemon, however, I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and kept sipping. About 50% through the drink I called the waiter over to inform him the drink did not taste as described, especially because I had requested Tito's in it, and that I wanted a new drink to replace that one. Instead of apologizing, he facetiously said "you should have said something before finishing it".I had not finished it, as a matter of fact I left it half full upon paying for my bill to show it was not finished, I wish I would've taken a picture. Shortly after, the owner approached my friend and I in a very oppositional fashion starting off by saying"You told the waiter your drink had no vodka? It's all vodka with muddled strawberries, I checked the bottle and the bartender used vodka, I don't understand why you're saying there's no vodka in it".I responded by telling her that I was stating my experience and I was hoping the drink would have been better. My friend stepped in modeling a calm demeanor, opposite of the owner's, and she told owner she should be receptive to the feedback from a customer. The owner looked at me and asked if I wanted another drink, I said no thank you.We asked for the bill, and that will be the last visit to this location. I plan on sharing this experience with others. The staff, owner, and curmudgeon looking woman sitting by the entrance can certainly benefit from Customer Service training rather than approaching customers like they're ready for a heated argument.I could afford a $10 drink, no one was trying to get over on the restaurant.

Worst pizzas ever. We ordered the margarita and the eggplant. Terrible. We threw most of both out. The crust was tasteless and rubbery. The toppings also had zero flavor. How can you screw up a margarita pizza?? $40 wasted.

We sat at the bar. Wanted to move to a table, restaurant was very dead. We chose a booth in the corner after being told to pick wherever, and they moved us because of a 'reservation'. I put reservation in quotes because the booth stayed empty the entire time we were in the restaurant. Completely ruined my experience and wanted to leave immediately afterwards.

How disheartening! On a raining Saturday morning, on 10/14/23, at about 5pm, my husband, my daughter, son in-law, my one-year-old granddaughter and I wanted to have a good plate of Italian food and decided to go to Novacento in Shrub Oak. The restaurant was recommended by my sister. Sadly, we were treated terribly so that's why I am writing this review. Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed that the restaurant was pretty empty with lots of empty tables and chairs on both sides. There was probably about fifteen guests in the restaurant at that time. We first thought that it was due to the weather, but we now question whether there are any other reasons for this! We proceeded to walk in and spoke with a young female (early twenties) that was managing the seating. She asked us if we had a reservation and we responded no. I did tell her how super excited we were to be here because it was recommended by a family member and how nice it is to have another Italian restaurant nearby to go to. She then proceeded to look at her log book and appeared to be annoyed as she was checking. Seconds after that, she said "I can give you a table, but you will have to be done within an hour." At first, I didn't think any of it because we normally finish within an hour. However, after reflecting on our entire experience, we felt that she did not want us to be there. Who says that when a restaurant is practically empty? Shortly after that, she spoke with a busboy and instructs him to set up a table for us with three chairs and a high chair. We then remind her that we are four adults and a baby. She then tells the bus boy to squeeze another chair at the table and we told her that we couldn't all fit at the table. She responded and said "oh well." We have never ever been treated so harshly as we were. I actually feel she had some kind of bias against us. How sad and disappointed we were. When then proceeded to Little Sorrento in Yorktown Heights and receive the total opposite customer treatment. The minute we walked in we felt welcomed and appreciated. The restaurant was crowded, but the staff there made us feel like family. The food was amazing as always and they made our day much brighter. Five STARS for Little Sorrento.

Five STARS for Little Sorrento.Sadly, you will take the word of an employee versus understanding how the employee made the customer feel. So if one knows that five people would require two tables then why would he/she try to squeeze them into one table? At that point, she should have indicated that to us and allow us to make the decision whether we wanted to stay or not and not try to squeeze us into an area that is not appropriate. When the response is oh well, that tells me that her intensions were not good. If the shoe were on the other foot, you would not take kindly to that. Also, we did circle back after we went to Little Sorrento and noticed that there were still quite a few empty tables. We understand that people do make mistakes and hopefully will learn from it. Making customers feel welcomed will grow your business. Making them feel unwanted and taking sides will not. Maybe her intensions were not to do this, but that's the way she made us feel. The point of the post was not to discredit the restaurant, but rather to bring to the surface an area of opportunity that needs to be explored. Employees will never learn if the establishment continues to condones or supports the behavior. If she is not a racist that's the way she made us feel. Yes, we did speak with you and you made us feel appreciated, but it still doesn't excused how the employee made us feel. Finally, one could never know how a person truly feels inside. As an employer you would like to believe that your employees would never do this or feel this way, but only the employee would know how he/she truly feel inside. Looking at your reviews and also getting good reviews from my sister, this was a bit surprising. For those reading the review, the purpose is not to discredit the restaurant itself, but rather to bring to the

We had a delicious meal at 901! It is tucked in a shopping center in Shrub Oak. The space is beautiful, with one side of the restaurant having a welcoming bar and the other side a wood-burning pizza oven. It is family-friendly with a reasonably priced kid's menu. I recommend calling ahead to reserve a table. We went on a Friday night, and it was quite busy. The food came out very fast and the service was great. We loved the pizza, burrata ravioli, eggplant stack, and a very delicious brussel sprout salad was the highlight for me. The portions are generous and the entrees come with a side salad.

I had my baby shower at 901 Woodburning Kitchen. We had a wonderful experience. Starting with working with the staff. Everyone was very nice and helpful. My guests raved about the food. The antipasto plate was delicious and beautifully done. Pasta and mains were all also great and perfect portions. The dessert of Nutella pizza with strawberries and a plate of cannolis were even better than the cake I purchased to bring in. I highly recommend and will be back.
