My Oktoberfest burger tasted like it was made from expired meat. It tasted stale. The toppings did not improve the taste. The fountain soda was good though. It was bubbly.I had some of my dining partner’s truffle fries. They were tasty. But because the burger is the main draw to American Burger, I have to give the restaurant a two-star review. Customers deserve a fresh burger made from premium meat.
Asked for grilled cheese for baby. No cheese and all bread. Asked for refund. Spent almost $70. Just wanted satisfaction for the nonsense. Two 16 yr old girls said we touched it already, no refund. After aggravation and words by me they gave me kiddie burger. Gross. Threw it out at home. Why do I have to debate two teenage girls? Shouldn’t there be someone with a mature brain? Will never never go again. Next time White Castle
Great local burger place! Recommended anytime in your in Smithtown area!
Haven't been there in a while maybe a year and the burger was gross. It was a purplish brown when I bit into it. Took another bite to try again and almost threw it up. I dotn know what happened to this place used to love their burgers. Called the manager nothing changed and he can't refund me, even if I bring the burger back to him. Not good business, won't be going back
Came here with my girlfriend recently for the first time in years. It was a pretty slow day with few people there. While food felt like it took longer than it should have, all the food was really good. I highly reccomened the truffle burger with the pretzel bun. The cinnabolts also were great with a delicious butter taste.
Ordered a burger with grilled chicken yesterday. They forgot to deliver the grilled chicken. When I asked the manager how will he fix this. His snarky answer is we are going to do nothing for you!! I said even though this is our 1st time ordering? He said, THATS RIGHT! Needless to say, nobody should be treated that way. Will never be back.
Hadn’t been by this place is a long time and was in the mood for a good burger and onion rings so I stopped in for lunch. The service was fine — reasonably fast and friendly — and the space was clean but gosh the food was not good. The beef had very little flavor and the consistency was like a slab of previously frozen meat. The onion rings were a little better and came with a good sauce. Maybe I’m odd but I like fried onion rings on the greasy side. These were crispy but seemed almost baked. I guess if you like healthier rings these may be for you. Overall experience was okay but just can’t get over the disappointment of how bad that burger was. I didn’t even finish it. I mean I’ve had better at McDonalds! It was miles behind say Five Guys or Burger Fi. Next time I was a burger I will go to one of those places.
If you want a burger that tastes like a cold wet hot dog come here. Fries are mid. 2/10
Update June 2023: Sadly this place is not what it used to be. I placed an order in the store today and they got everything wrong. The burgers were undercooked. The lugnuts were burnt. They didn't even include the fries.Staff was standing around so I have no idea how they got an order so wrong. Dropping my score to two stars.I haven't been to Roadside Burgers in some time. But my family decided to stop there for lunch today.Gone are the days of small patties of meat put in between a potato bun that always seemed too small. I had ordered a double cheeseburber expecting this and I was pleasantly surprised at what I received: two thick hamburger patties on a full sized bun. It was delicious! Add a soda and a side of fries to that and you have yourself a great lunch. The service is good. You place your order at the counter and they give you a number to keep at your table. Your food comes to you.The establishment is clean and the employees are courteous. Definitely will be coming back more often.
The food is great but the dining room and seats aren’t the most clean. Would appreciate it if they put more care into wiping down their tables and seats.

Didn't get a chance to eat the food. Walked in with my wife and one person eating. Stood at counter one girl was on her phone in the food area. As we were walking out somebody came to the counter. Reading the other comments I'm glad we left..
First timers here. My wife and I stopped in for lunch after a blizzard so the place was empty. There was no food rush whatsoever and based on the quality of the food, it shows. If there’s anything you’ve learned from all the cooking shows on tv, it’s use fresh ingredients and the food will most likely be amazing. This was not the case. Burgers were pre-frozen patties and charging $13 for that is unacceptable.Dressing up the Deluxe combo box for almost $6 to serve onion rings is borderline criminal.Lastly, the sinks in the bathroom don’t work.Thank God for Purell.
#Amazingburgers Honestly this place and service is phenomenal. Its like biting into a piece of heaven.
Wow, what a lousy experience ... poor service, worse food. A moderately priced but decent-quality burger place sounded intriguing, and one of those would be ... but this place isn't it. Stopped there on a slow afternoon; they had maybe three tables of people and zero line. The female clerk with the too-bored-to-be-here look couldn't be bothered to acknowledge a customer had come in, and paid no attention when I walked down the lobby, around the divider and up to her station. Her greeting, when she finally looked up, was less than enthusiastic. By a lot. How could you go wrong with an Angus burger and sauteed mushrooms? I should have seen trouble ahead when the clerk never asked how I wanted it - evidently the default here is medium well. That's usually a sign of a place that doesn't trust the quality of its meat. $3.50 for fries seemed steep, but I hoped for the best. When they finally got around to bringing the food (to go), I asked the clerk "Is there salt?" Her response was "It should be in the bag." Well, she was right - it should have been. But it wasn't. She didn't bother to look, and I didn't find out til I was back in the car ... and found six packets of ketchup (WHO could need that much) and zero salt. The real kick was the food: I've enjoyed junior high school cafeteria burgers more than this. Honestly, this seemed like something from an off-brand fast food joint: Overcooked, lifeless and tasteless. I suppose it gets a point for the absence of gristle or bone fragments ... but the chewy texture had the appeal of grilled cardboard. And those fries - seriously, McDonald's would've been better and way less expensive. Bland, free-of-any-character rectangles of potato. I was plenty hungry, but threw half of them out. American Roadside needs new ownership or new management: Right now, there's just no good reason for it to exist. If you want a meh burger, visit a bad diner - the service will be better. If you want a good burger, keep driving.
Went in because my husband likes the bosco. Food overpriced, service slow and worst part no one preparing food or behind counter had mask on. DURING THE TIME OF COVID MASKS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE WORN IF YOU ARE PREPARING FOOD. Very surprised and disappointed..
