This review is about honesty and integrity. I cannot rate the food since we never were able to fulfill our group reservation. We had a reservation for lunch for 55 seniors on June 26th. The night before at 9pm I received a phone call that the restaurant had been shut down due to a gas leak. Apparently hours were spent with plumbers without resolution. Initially, the owner, Don Sullivan< was reluctant to help find a replacement. I emphatically stated t hat the responsibility was his to find an alternative since 55 people were expecting a lunch. We agreed that I would make some calls and he would make some calls. He asked me to call his cell once I found a solution. When I was able to move the group to Cowfish I called Don. The call went into voice mail. It is now 10pm and there is no resolution. I called the Southampton Publick House and reached Don. I told him of my solution. He started cursing me and berating Cowfish. Finally, he apologized for his abusive language. He said he had found an alternative restaurant and chastised me for not calling him. I told him to check his voice mail and he would see that I called. After discussing the menu and the price Don was unhappy. I told him that we had no choice at 10pm and he agreed to reimburse me for the difference. I forwarded the invoice from Cowfish after a pleasant experience. Don sad he would send a check. He did send a check that was almost $152 less than the difference. I wrote to Don for an explanation. He said there was an administrative charge of 5% that he refused to pay. He told me the $152 was the cost of doing business. Really? The charge was for an event coordinator who came to the restaurant at 9am the morning of the luncheon. When I challenged Don he told me I was not empathetic. Empathy was not an issue. We were totally stressed the prior evening and we were lucky to find a replacement. The entire itinerary for the group had to be changed to accommodate a restaurant t hat was 30 minutes away. The group's tour of the Parish Art Museum had to be canceled because of itinerary changes. Things happen. How you handle them matters. A man's word is critical. Don was abusive, desperate, and dishonest. In my world these things matter. We have decided not to go there with other tours planned. What you do when you read this review you will make your own own personal decision.

I came here on July 6 and the bartender on shift was very rude not kind at all. Me and my friends came in to get a few drinks but the bartender asked for our IDs very rudely and said that we can’t sit at the bar without our IDs and we completely understand but one of us forgot their ID in the car and he very rudely said that we can’t all sit at the bar. I just think he could have gone about it differently maybe once he saw all of us enter say something like to sit at the bar you guys need to be 21 and have your IDs and at the bar there were maybe 4 other people but they already had drinks so I know he wasn’t busy helping anyone else. I just think he could have definitely been nicer and not talked so rudely to us.

Came here for a late lunch with the family and everything was fantastic! Service was prompt and courteous. I had one of the best burgers here that I've had in a very long time!!

The food was good. But the service was strongly lacking. The wait staff walked by us multiple times before offering even water. And then when the food was finally ready, they brought out 3 of the 4 meals and the last one took an additional 10 minutes to be served. That's insane. And when I asked about it, the response from the waiter was dismissive.

Stopped here on our way back from Montauk for a quick lunch - burgers and fries were delicious. Our server was very personable and attentive. Nice place for a casual meal!
Always hesitate to leave a positive review because it only means a favorite eating place will get even more jammed. That said, we like coming to the Public House. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is plentiful and generally quite delicious. Julia our server was especially friendly, but without intruding. After taking our orders, she checked back several times to see if everything was ok and/or if we needed anything more. (On other occasions, Marsha has been great, but she does not work on Saturdays). The food was good. New England Clam Chowder. French Onion Soup & Chopped Wedge Salads were delicious. Wings were good; Chicken Picatta less so because the lemon sauce with capers tasted definitely like an add on instead of being infused into the chicken. All in all, however, it was another good evening... and a good dinner. We'll be back!

Really a very nice restaurant. Casual and friendly with an easy menu to order from. Most dishes were excellent. Fish Tacos were great, fresh! Woukd have given more stars but the salads were over dressed and the portions were wimpy for the price. Nice espresso martini 🍸

We always enjoy our time at the Publick House. We start with the Happy Hour (4-7) at the bar, then sit in the dining room for dinner. The Tuesday night 2-4-1 entrees are an amazing deal, and delicious. Always great, friendly service. Highly recommend!

In the past when we went to the Publick House, the service and food was good. The last time we went, the service was slow, waitress forgot one of the orders and the food wasn't good.

A nice place to grab a beer and hangout by the bar. Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. The food however was a disappointment. The fries were very dry, hard and flavorless. The flavors overall of our entrees just felt off.
