So first off let me say that I frequent this place often for take out. I had my first dining experience with my Girl Scouts troop. The service was horrible. We had a waiter who was new and barely could speak English. She messed the order up 2 times and then I just finally stated I don’t need anything else. It was a table of more than 15 and we wanted to checks broken up. They told us NO. It was how they said it and it went down from there. The pizza was burnt each time which was sad. Something changed in the place and I believe it is the staff the hostess was rude as well. It was truly disappointing but the food was excellent.

The food was fine, overall. We ordered the mussels, and while they were good, almost half of them were dead.

Our server was sweet and very attentive, but it took us forever to get our check. When we asked for the second time, she advised that the bartender was working on it. I figured he was the only one who could work the POS system. When she gave me the check, it was hand-written, which totally threw me off. If there's no computer entry, why does only one person write up the checks? Can only one person in the place do math? The whole thing made no sense to me.

Excellent pizzas--the best in the county. With some really creative combinations. And the salads and other dishes that we have tried have been quite good as well. There is obviously someone very talented in charge of the food here. Service is good. The staff is friendly and attentive. My only complaint is that the lights are always turned up to last call brightness, and the charm of the exterior of the old farmhouse is not matched in its no-frills interior. Even so, great place.

Authentic pizza with a plethora of flavors. The service was very hospitable. Ambiance was warm and welcoming. Recommend if you want real pizza in the area, reminded me of the famous John’s Pizzeria on Broadway in NYC.

The cheese pie and pepperoni pie were both very good. The sauce is really what makes it.

I have been to the Mountain House several times and had the pleasure of eating their thin crust bar style pizza. The pizza is very good and worth a 45 minute long drive on the Palisades from NYC or Jersey City to get there. On your drive there you can stop at overlooks to take photos of the New York city skyline.

The service at the Mountain House is very good.
David Portnoy of Barstool rates the pizza an 8.2 on a scale of 1 to 10 which means it is quite good.
