I went to Alfonso's the Friday before Easter. Got some small Canolis, an Apple Coffee cake a and some biscuit. All delicious. But the young lady who assisted me was somewhat rude, impatient and unhelpful. I admit I was not as decisive as I usually are but she should have been a bit nicer. I was not there for a free meal.

My husband's family is from NY. and Alfonso's Pastry Shoppe has been serving his family since he was a child! Their Tres Leches cake is amazing, filled with strawberries, topped with fresh strawberries & kiwi! They have beautiful displays of fresh pastries, tarts, cookie, pies and cakes. Don't miss this shoppe! You'll dream of this place and make fond memories! We live in Texas and miss this place for sure!

We were visiting from Colorado for a wedding in Jersey and everyone told us to come here. It did not disappoint!! Wow. The fillings were generous and delicious and all so fresh. Thanks for a memorable trip and everyone in CO was in heaven with our treats we brought home ??

Customer service is great! The treats are quite delicious. We only really have one type of bakery here on the island. So for what the island offers, they are great!

Overall pretty disappointed, felt like I got a mediocre batch of supermarket desserts. Ordered 5 pastries, they are sold as small or large so mostly got large versions. Got one Napoleon and one sfogliatelle, both were described as having "French pastry cream" when in fact they both have Italian Meringue Buttercream which is as greasy as it sounds, so they both went in the garbage. The cream puff and eclair actually did have real pastry cream, but the color of the cream for both was artificially yellow, and the flavor was not bad but the texture was, it tasted like the cream was frozen then defrosted. The cannoli was fine, the shell was good but the filling was a bit bland in flavor, maybe the brand of ricotta cheese used, some brands are not that good.

Alfonso's use to be sooo good, ive been going there for years and unfortunately no more. The pumpkin pie was undercooked as shown in the photos and had no crunchy crust. The cheescake was unfortunately even worse. The cookies were average and not fresh. Definitely better bakerys like Royal

If I could give a zero I would . It’s the day before thanksgiving on the website it says they are open till 7 on the front door it says they are open till 7 . The manager said they closed at 6 I’m writing this review it’s 6:06 . It was me and a few people outside stating how the website says 7 and he wouldn’t let us in . He also had no remorse and didn’t care that we were complaining that the website says 7 .. such TERRIBLE business! You just lost out on so much money from me and other customers! I’ll take my business elsewhere!!

Pastries are very good! However, very pricey. I paid $41.00 for a dozen mini pastries, and I thought that was a little too much. Won't be going back.

A classic pasticerria / bakery which bakes deliciously old school the way it's supposed to be! Exceptionally amazing cheese danishes, excellent jelly and cream donuts and some of the best rainbow cookies around! The place is also really beautiful outside with nice covered tables and the most beautiful manicured landscaping. Overall a great experience every time.

September 2022This place looked amazing online so I just had to stop while passing through the area. I tried a cannoli before I even walked out the door, and it was delightful. Very fresh, sweet, and perfect. I took home a few eclairs and chocolate butter biscuit cookies, and none of them lasted half a day in the house. The eclairs were stuffed with filling and a thick layer of chocolate coated it nicely. I can imagine if I lived in the area this would be a favorite place for wonderful baked goods.

I have been coming here for many years for their delicious cakes. Today I bought 2 brownies for my neighbor and they were stale. When I called to let them know I was put on hold and then I was disconnected. This happened several times. So buyer beware your delicacies ma be stale!

We drove 2 hours from Jersey to visit family on Staten Island, and decided to stop at Alfonso's to buy a blackout cake and some loaves of bread. The cake was stale, the pudding was lumpy and the icing was disgusting. It had a weird, nasty taste like it had sat for days in someone's musty old basement. My husband said the bread wasn't baked properly and was subpar. No one was able to eat the cake or the bread and we had to throw everything out. It was a complete waste of money and we were very disappointed, especially after a long drive. Years ago, Alfonso's was the one of the best bakeries, but clearly they aren't anymore. We will not be going back next time we visit Staten Island.
