I had been trying to get there for years. It was even better than I had imagined it would be. Food is beyond amazing. Skip an earlier meal so you have plenty of room as the portions are huge. And the atmosphere only adds to the experience. Friendly owners and staff.

Let me start out by saying this place is amazing. It felt like I was being welcomed into someone’s home. Nonna Maria is a sweetheart. The focaccia was brought to us with the beat little salad dip mix which was right tasty the perfect amount. We ordered the Grandpas Cha Cha red wine (which happens to be suggested by Nonna Maria although we were already looking at it so we had to go ahead and get it). We ordered the feta mushroom dip. It was the perfect amount. It was so good. I was surprised of how much it didn’t taste like overwhelming feta. I did order the lamb stew, but it was sold out. So we ordered the red lasagna and lasagna Blanca. The red lasagna was so good like the right amount of cheese at meat and pasta ratio, and the lasagna Blanca was good but it was sort of heavy and I’m not sure if it’s because we also had the red lasagna. This is a place that I will be returning to very soon because there are a bunch of Nonna’s that I would love to try their food. All of the staff were pleasant offered great choices and came out so quickly, and it tasted so fresh. This is a concept unlike any other.

The guide of the free tour we took recommended it to us. Recommended, special place, every day there is a grandmother from a country with typical food, apart from a menu with homemade dishes. The waitress who served us was very friendly and made an effort to understand us and communicate well. The food is very delicious and well advised. Good price quality. Cozy and beautiful place, we will return, recommended.

The best spot to eat near the Staten Island ferry / St George. Sat at the bar and enjoyed quick and friendly service. Solid wine selection, even better food! There was a Peruvian Nonna in house tonight but I was called to traditional Nonna fare and got the Lasagna Della Nonna. It was perfect...The layers! The banana pudding was insane- creme bruelee bananas with homemade cookies. Will definitely be back!

CASH ONLY (or Venmo!) I love the concept of Enoteca Maria, so I feel slightly guilty for the 3-star rating, but 3-stars means it was alright! I'm obsessed with hole-in-the-wall restaurants where the food tastes like your grandma made it. When my friend told me about Enoteca Maria, I decided I had a reason to go to Staten Island. It is conveniently located near the ferry, so it is definitely worth a visit! I called two weeks ahead to get a 2:30pm seating on a Sunday. They are closed in the beginning of the week so plan ahead if you want to make a reservation. The interior is no-frills, which makes sense for the concept! We had a nonna from Italy and one from Japan working the day we went, though did not see the nonna from Japan. I ordered the risotto ($18) and my friend had eggplant dengaku ($25). The highlight of the risotto was the sausage, which had nice flavor. Otherwise, the risotto did not have much flavor. My friend's dish tasted like a steak meal with an eggplant substitution. The sauce was delicious, and the eggplant texture was nice. The whipped potatoes were pretty cool and complemented the dish nicely. We had a bread pudding for dessert ($14) that was also decent. I was missing more texture from wafers, but the vanilla pudding was good.Service was alright. The waiter who helped us was courteous, and we didn't need a water refill. I was just personally not wowed by the food. If I do end up coming back with someone else who wants to try it, and I have an outstanding dish, I will update my review accordingly. That being said, I do think this is an experience every New Yorker should try at least once!

We were there for lunch on February 18, 2024 and it was excellent. The restaurant was completely booked but luckily for us we got there very early and were still able to eat something. We found the service incredibly friendly and she made our stay very special. We would come back at any time.
