(Quite a Read But Totally Called For) If I could give this place an absolute "ZERO STARS" I would. As a Member of Service I'm appalled by the egregious behavior of the store owner/manager Patsy Bulvilino. Back Story: For starters I'm 7 months pregnant. I patronized this establishment on my lunch break. Unfortunately while eating my salad a huge insect crawled and ran out of my container during consumption. Despite my phobia of bugs I was able to take a picture, record video, kill it and called the store immediately. I was engaged by staff member Maggie (very helpful and empathethic) who advised that she was unable to process a refund because there were no managers on duty they were at their "Zerega Ave Store/Restaurant". I advised Maggie that I would come to the store and give my contact information upon arrival. I also wanted the staff to see what I had just experienced while also trying to maintain my composure and refrain from regurgitating my food that could then possibly pose a risk to myself and child. Upon arrival she told me the manager was still unavailable to speak to me directly and that he would contact via text or phone call later....... Later ??????? Sooooo a whole bug crawls out of a customer's food container and you as a MANAGER/STORE OWNER decide to rectify a huge issue on your time is a complete slap in the face to anyone as a patronizing customer. I told Maggie that I would wait until she calls him directly and gives him my number to return my call. Now here's the kicker ...... 2-3 minutes later I received a call where "Rude Ol Patsy" then apologizes and offers a dessert or pastry on the house with a refund I have to wait to receive..... Common Sense .... if a live bug 🐛 comes out of your food would you want anything from that place to eat, NO of course NOT. He then tells me that even though I paid with my credit card I have to wait 3-5 days for a refund. I kindly advised him that I paid with a debit card with funds already deducted from my account and that I would prefer CASH. Why not ??? It took less than 2 second to deduct from my account and considering the circumstances why would you not just give me the cash and send me on my way. He had the nerve sarcastically to tell me that's not the way it works sweetheart you have to wait. My returned comment was I shouldn't have to wait 3-5 days for a refund especially considering I'm pregnant and that bug sure didn't wait 3-5 days to crawl out either. So he then tells me his wife is 8 months pregnant. I'm sorry where does his pregnant wife have anything to do with the price of tea in England. I proceeded to tell him I'm sure when you and wife sit down to eat that bugs don't crawl out of food from your establishment either..... to then hear the snarky remark of my wife and I eat 5 days a week (could've swore there were 7 days in a week but I digress) after hearing that it was time "To Hang Up" which I did while he eas talking mid sentence. I paid the mediocre amount of less than $15.00 but it's the principle that you can't speak to anyone, anyway you see fit. Especially not a Pregnant Woman of Color !!!!!! If you can I would say take your money elsewhere. Totally not worth the headache and I hope this story allows you to scroll on to the next establishment to patronize.
I got the meal plan for 2 people, We love it. Great portions for my weight lost and very tasty 😋. Be aware of the delivery time, it can be delivery on an hour or 5. However, they send you a text to let you know that it is on the way. I usually order when I am at home so it is ok. The only problem was the containers... the package could be more environmentally friendly (I have to trash the 10 plastic containers, feels so wrong 😔 and guilty). other than that great food, great portions and super healthy 😀.
just ordered the mexican chicken wrap. taste good, fast friendly delivery named DANNY
Yesterday I ordered 4 lunches for myself and my co-workers, the salad with chicken had a bad odor, and my colleague threw it out, how do you ruin a Tuna Hero, put it on wheat with no mayo and dry as a bone, thrown out also...the other two lunches were fine, but small portions...I don't believe for one minute had the owner or manager over looked this order, would it have left the store like this...50+ dollars lost...I wish them success, however someone has to step up and examine what and how the food is prepared and presented...one and done...sorry about the negativity...but it is honest....
Gluten Free pasta salad, by far the best on the menu, love coming here. Satisfied every time. Seriously Recommened if you want to start eating healthy.
I always order from MANGIA! because without fail I have a tasty delicious meal. If I’m ever in the mood for something quick, i’ll choose the "Peanut Butter Blast Smoothie". It satisfies my taste for a candy bar and I don’t have the guilt. Sometimes I can’t decide and I ask the person behind the counter (who is always helpful with a suggestion) and I am never disappointed with his choice. Always served with a smile. I LOVE this place.
Took my children for a gluten free breakfast Mangia has the best gluten free pancakes on Staten island. My son is gluten free and it's extremely hard to fi d a place for breakfast so happy I found Mangia. The staff was more than accommodating love Mangia
I went there the other day. Let me tell you that it was the best healthy food store I have ever been to. It was so delicious!!! It is a great little cozy place on Jefferson Avenue. It is not an expensive place compare to some other places nearby. They also deliver. I also have to say that the service was amazing! I am planning to stop there soon.
One of my friends are gluten free so we chose Mangia. I couldnt believe how good they make gluten free food taste. The variety is especially impressive will Definetely be going back. The service and staff go out of there way to make you feel welcome.
Food was fresh... owner Alexandra is extremely rude, thus we will not order again. I called after receiving delivery to advise items were missing from our order. (It happens, not the worst thing. Items were received about another hour and a half later.) I called again to advise there was an item on my receipt which I did not order, nor did I receive. Also mentioned the order was half the size it usually is. Alexandra was snippy from the inception of the call and escalated to a child-like tantrum as she explained the order is not different, nor was I charged for a salad on my receipt which clearly shows I was charged for. Less than acceptable interaction with someone who claims to "own the store".
Restaurantji Recommends
How a business treats their customers is extremely important when there are so many places available to deliver your lunch. Apparently Mangia doesn't think this is important. Our business ordered lunch, part of the order was not delivered, not a problem, that happens. But the extremely rude treatment on the phone by the self stated owner, Alexandra was totally not acceptable. For a restaurant that serves average food they should brush up on their customer service skills. There are many places on Staten Island that appreciate their customers and serve excellent food. Do yourself a favor and order from one of the many other available places on Staten Island.
